a) The graph y = f(x) is a smooth curve. Using 2 cm to represent 1 unit on
each axis, draw this graph for - 4.7 ≤ x ≤ 4.7

b) Use your graph to solve the equation f(x) = 0, giving your answers correct
to 1 decimal place.
c) Write down the positive integer value of k such that the equation f(x) = k has
4 solutions.
d) (i) By drawing a suitable tangent, estimate the gradient of the curve
at (-3.5, 1.87 ).

(ii) Write down the coordinates of any two points on the curve which has
the gradient equals to zero. Name these points.
e) Write down the equation of the line, in which one part of the curve
y = f(x) is the reflection of the other.

Justify your answer.
