Exact Values and Functions of Circular Functions

Circular functions, also known as trigonometric functions, relate angles to the sides of right triangles. The main circular functions are sine, cosine, tangent, cotangent, secant, and cosecant. Sine gives the y-coordinate and cosine gives the x-coordinate of a point on the unit circle corresponding to an angle. The unit circle is used to visualize angles and their corresponding function values. Tables of exact values for common angles like 0°, 30°, 45°, 60°, 90° are helpful for familiarizing terms and evaluating expressions involving trigonometric functions.

Exact Values and Functions of Circular Functions

Here are the exact values and functions of Circular Functions, But first we
are going to defined what Circular Function is, Circular Function is defined as
functions that relate points on the unit circle (a circle with radius 1) to their
coordinates, specifically x and y value. Circular functions, also known as
trigonometric functions, are a set of functions that relate angles to the sides of
right triangles. They are essential in various fields, including mathematics,
physics, engineering, and navigation. The main circular functions: sine (sin),
cosine (cos), tangent (tan), cotangent (cot), secant (sec), and cosecant (csc).
Remember that Sine (sin θ) Gives the y-coordinate of the point on the unit
circle corresponding to angle θ, and Cosine (cos θ) Gives the xcoordinate of
the point on the unit circle corresponding to angle θ. Remember each terms
so that it will be easy for you to figure out the functions, practice solving and
using these exact values and functions of circular functions.

The Key Circular Functions:

1. Sine (sin θ) -
- Defined as the y-coordinate of a point on the unit circle that is θ radians
counterclockwise from the positive x-axis.
- Values range from -1 to 1.
2. Cosine (cos θ) -
- Defined as the x-coordinate of a point on the unit circle that is θ radians
counterclockwise from the positive x-axis.
- Values range from -1 to 1.
3. Tangent (tan θ) -
- Defined as sin θ / cos θ.
- Values can range from negative infinity to positive infinity.

These functions are defined using the unit circle,, a circle with a radius of
1 centered at the origin of a coordinate plane. The unit circle is used to
visualize angles and their corresponding circular function values. It consists of
the degrees and the radical signs of every angle, and it is very helpful for us to
remember every terms in circular functions. By using the unit circle the exact
values on unit circle, and the key angles are 0°, 30°, 45°, 60°, 90°, 180°,270°,
360° (and multiples) have exact values for sin and cos.

There’s also a table for it, The table of exact values it is also a helpful
guide for us to memorize and familiarize all the terms of the circular functions.
The function relationships are Tangent: tan(θ) = sin(θ) /cos(θ),Cotangent:
cot(θ) =1/tan(θ) = cos(θ)/ sin(θ), Secant: sec(θ) = 1/cos(θ), and Cosecant:
csc(θ) = 1/sin(θ). As a student these tables and the unit circle, helps me to
familiarize every terms, the equivalent of every angles and degrees. The
eagerness to learn mathematics is very challenging, there are times that I find
it hard and there are also times that I find it easy to solve or to familiarize each
of the terms.
Now, Applying Exact Values:

1.Solve trigonometric equations:

Example: Solve sin(θ) = √3/2 for θ between 0° and
360°.
Use the table to find θ = 60°.

2. Evaluate expressions:
Example: Find cos(45°) + sin(30°).
Use the table to get √2/2 + 1/2 = (√2 + 1)/2.

3.Simplify expressions:
Example: Simplify (sin(30°) + cos(60°))^2.
Use the table to get (1/2 + 1/2)^2 = 1^2 = 1.

4.Model periodic phenomena:

Example: Graph y = 5sin(2x) to model a wave.

5.Solve real-world problems:

Example: Find the height of a 15-foot ladder leaning
against a wall at a 60° angle.
Use sin(60°) = height/15 to find height = 15√3/2 feet.

These things helps us and guides us on the things that we are not sure in
using the exact values and functions of a circular functions. Also, here are the
Applications of Circular Functions: Solving triangles, Modeling periodic
phenomena (waves, sound, light), Navigation and surveying, Physics and
engineering applications, Digital signal processing

And these are the exact values for common angles:

| Angle (θ) | Sine (sin θ) | Cosine (cos θ) | Tangent (tan θ) |

|--------------|-----------------|---------------------|-----------------|
| 0° |0 |1 |0 |
| 30° | 1/2 | √3/2 | √3/3 |
| 45° | √2/2 | √2/2 |1 |
| 60° | √3/2 | 1/2 | √3 |
| 90° |1 |0 | Undefined |

Memorize and Familiarize every steps and terms in using the Exact
Values and Functions of Circular Functions, It must be hard but learning and
trying to achieve something; setting a goal, so that you can learn more and
have more knowledge about mathematics. Focus, Set Goals, and the
