III. SYNTHESIS

The study used a quantitative research design and a survey

questionnaire was given to 50 Grade 12 ABM students of the

Philippine College of Advanced Arts and Technology. The

questionnaire was designed to collect information on the

demographic profile of the respondents, their perception of

inflation and its impact on their purchasing behavior, and their

actual purchasing behavior in relation to the impact of inflation.

These are the methods used in quantitative research in which they

will have a statement through a survey conducted. The researchers

collected information on each person in Grade 12 ABM students of

the Philippine College of Advanced Arts and Technology to conduct

this research. The results of the study showed that the majority

of respondents are aware of the concept of inflation and realize

that it has a significant impact on their purchasing behavior. The

study found that inflation affected the purchasing behavior of

students in terms of the quality of products they buy, the number

of goods they buy, and their preferred brands. The study also

revealed that students tried to cope with inflation by looking for

alternative products, reducing their costs, and looking for

discounts or promotions respondents choose what is more in line

with or needed by them in their daily lives than what they want or

just want. In addition, the study found that there are significant

differences in the purchasing behavior of Grade 12 ABM students

based on their gender and family income. Male students were found

to be more affected by inflation compared to female students, while

students from low-income families were found to be more affected

by inflation compared to those from high-income families. The

standard of living of the people is also in line with this, for

example, the poor students who have been surveyed are more and more

pressured by the increase in inflation. The researchers also found

out that there are many men because there are more male students

who are working students who were surveyed and are really sensitive

to the height of inflation just like women but it is more likely

by a few percentages. Based on the findings, the study suggests

that Grade 12 ABM students should be given financial literacy

education to help them cope with the impact of inflation on their

purchasing behavior. The study also recommends that consumers and

business owners should consider the impact of inflation on the

purchasing behavior of consumers, especially those in the low-

income bracket. In this way, the purchasing behavior of Grade 12

ABM students of the Philippine College of Advanced Arts and

Technology will be gradually solved.

CHAPTER III

METHODOLOGY

This part of this chapter will explain how the data will be

gathered. And what will the researcher technique on how they

interpret the data collected from the respondents.

A. RESEARCH DESIGN

This chapter concentrates on the discussion of the research

methods and procedures adhered to by the researcher in order to

answer systematically the specific problems posed for

investigation. Specifically, the research method, population and

samples, research instrument, data gathering procedure, and

statistical treatment of the data used for the accurate data

analysis and interpretation were explained in this chapter.

This quantitative research study was overall constructed by

non-experimental correlational research design. The researchers

use the form of gathering information in research by asking

questions through surveys to a group or set of people. This kind

of design was chosen because it is useful to locate the relationship

between the independent and dependent variable in the study. Survey

can provide the broadest capability than other research methods

and this kind of research design has a lot of benefits that will

perfectly fit in this study especially that the Impact of Inflation

is one of the most sensitive topics in this generation, and using

this kind of method the researchers can provide a venue that will

give a freedom and safe anonymous storage to respondents to speak

freely for themselves.

B. SAMPLE, POPULATION, AND SAMPLING TECHNIQUE

The researchers choose the sample from the population of

Philippine College of Advanced Arts and Technology as the

respondents for this study. The sampling technique used was under

the non-probability sampling method — the purposive sampling. The

purposive sampling allowed the researchers to gain knowledge about

the impact of inflation to the student’s purchasing behavior. It

also helped the researchers gain respondents with their specific

criteria of being grade 12 ABM students. The number of respondents

will be 50 random students from grade 12 ABM strand in PCAAT. And

to be able to get the respondents the researchers will use a

volunteer sampling technique, also the Researchers will use the

most convenient way to gather data and that is survey techniques.

C. RESEARCH LOCALE

In this research study was conducted at Philippine College

Advanced Arts and Technology located at 1914 Doña Faustina

Building, Recto Ave, Quiapo, Manila, Philippines. The researchers

choose this place since it will be easily to locate the respondents.

Also, it can be easy to communicate with the respondents to get

their assistance in the study since it will conduct in PCAAT.

However, the researchers choose a social media platform to easily

reach out to the respondents

D. DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE

First, the surveys will be conducted by a group of researchers

from the Dal’lang (ABM) students at the Philippine College of

Advanced Arts and Technology. The researchers will explain to the

respondents the importance of their response to the study after

they give us the permission to make them our respondents. The

researchers will also clarify some terms to the respondents so that

they can answer the questionnaire with full knowledge of their

responsibility as the subject of the study. Researchers will also

request for the respondents to answer with all honesty before

distributing the survey.

Second, after gaining permission and sure participation, the

researchers will seek students from the ABM strand from one or more

sections, till it reaches the total number of 50 respondents.

Researchers will give a survey and ask to proceed answering the

questions to our study. They will be given enough time to answer

the questions. They will also serve as a source for the

transcription and coding methods of the researchers.

Thirdly, after collecting the data gathered from the

respondents, researchers will need to double check the respondent’s

answers to avoid any mistakes and misunderstandings related to our

study.

Finally, after double checking, the obtained information

relayed by the respondents is interpreted and analyzed by the

researchers for a deeper understanding on the various perspectives

of the people inside the institution towards the impact of

inflation on the purchase behavior of grade 12 students.

E. RESEARCH INSTRUMENTS

To gather the relevant information the researchers will

conduct a survey method since this is the best way to gather

information from the respondents. An objective quantitative

questionnaire was used as the study's tool. A questionnaire is the

initial step in this study. The first step in using a questionnaire

to collect data is to create structured questions. The

questionnaire's questions are only for students at the Philippine

College of Advanced Arts and Technology and with the respondents'

consent, data gathered from the set of questions may be entered

into Google forms platform. There is a particular set of inquiries

since the researchers cannot conduct the interviews outside due to

the current circumstances, the researchers have chosen this option.

If the researchers use this strategy, the researchers can prevent

biased answers and less pressure, especially from students. Without

employing references to analyze, interpret, and assess the concerns

and problems associated to the topic under study. The significance

of this research would not be comprehensive. In this study, adopted

survey questionnaire is the best way to conduct or gather

information about the study.

This questionnaire is designed to answer the statement of the

problem of the study. The survey questionnaire is in the form of

Likert Scale because it is convenient for the researchers and for

the respondents because it will take less time of both parties

especially for the respondents to answer the survey questionnaire

because the respondents will only be checking the box for their

answer. The respondents will choose strongly agree (5), agree (4),

moderately agree (3), disagree (2), and strongly disagree (1)

rating scale. The survey questionnaire consists of 3 parts with

six (6) questions each except for demographic profiles. The first

part focuses on the demographic profile of the respondents which

includes the name, gender, grade and section of the respondents.

The second part and the third part are focuses to the chosen topic

which is the impact of inflation and other factors that affect

their purchasing behavior. They will answer it by answering

strongly agree (5), agree (4), moderately agree (3), disagree (2),

and strongly disagree (1), so that the researchers can gather this

data to solve the statement of the problem. All the gathered data

will remain confidential for the sake of the respondents.

F. DATA ANALYSIS

This research will be using a correlational statistical

analysis which the researchers find this method by analyzing data

questionnaires. The researchers choose this method since it will

be focuses on proving a simple summary of a data point of

quantitative analysis. By using this statistical method, the

researchers can easily demonstrate the relationship between the

dependent and independent variable of this study.

Correlational statistical analysis is a good approach for

this research since the researchers are seeking to find out about

the respondent’s knowledge, views, opinions and experiences of a

quantitative set of data survey responses, given by the grade 12

ABM students in Philippine College of Advanced Arts and

Technology who experience the impact of the inflation on their

purchased behavior.

To interpret the data effectively, the researchers employed

the following statistical treatments:

result of significant relationship. The t-value was also computed

in order to determine if the null hypothesis will be accepted or

rejected. If the computed t-value is greater than the t-tabular,

it is significant and we can accept Ho. If the computed t-tabular

is greater than the computed t-value, it is not significant and

we can reject Ho.
