A. Answer these questions in about 20 words each:

1. Where were Rehan’s parents planning to host his birthday party?


a. Rehan’s parents were planning to host his birthday party at a newly opened mall in their
posh Delhi suburban neighbourhood.
2. In what ways were Saba and Rehan similar?
a. Rehan and Saba were similar in their mutual disdain for malls. They thought malls were
boring and both of them loved adventure.
3. Who was the quizzer in the group and who was the one most interested in food?
a. Khushi was the quizzer in the group and Manmeet was the one most interested in food.
4. Where did the friends remember seeing the canopy whose photo Vikram had?
a. The children remembered seeing the canopy on the photo that Vikram had on the way to
the mosque.
5. Where did Rehan cut his birthday cake?
a. Rehan cut his birthday cake under the dome of the canopy called Metcalfe’s Folly
surrounded by his family and friends.

1. What was the Discover Delhi Hunt?
A. The Discover Delhi Hunt was an interesting activity that Rehan’s cousin Saba planned
for him and his friends for his birthday. As a part of this hunt, the children were given
some clues which led them to some interesting places all across Delhi. Once there, the
children were asked to perform certain tasks that enriched their knowledge as well as
brought much-needed fun into the entire exercise.
2. Why did Rehan like being at the dargah in Nizamuddin Basti?
A. Rehan felt a sense of solace and peace when he was at the dargah in Nizamuddin
Basti. Spending some quiet moments there, he felt as if the saint was blessing him on
his birthday. He enjoyed that feeling and hence liked being at the dargah.
3. ‘This was a good idea!’ What idea was Rehan referring to?
A. Rehan was referring to the idea of distributing gifts among the nursery students of the
local municipal school.
4. What was unusual about the birthday gift that Saba gave Rehan?
A. Saba gave Rehan an intricate 3D jigsaw puzzle of a dinosaur as his birthday present.
However, once assembled, it was seen that the spine of the dinosaur was missing.
5. In what condition was Balban’s tomb?
A. Balban’s tomb, which was octagonal in shape, was in ruins. However, the arches were
all in good shape.

1. In what way was the visit to the eatery in Chandni Chowk different and enjoyable?
A. The visit to the eatery in Chandni Chowk was different and enjoyable in many ways. Children
learnt to make paratha from Maharaj ji himself. Saba announced the competition among them
to make the roundest paratha. That is how children got to work. First, they had chosen the filling
of their choice out of 25 varieties then Maharaj ji demonstrated how to put the filling in and roll
it out into a round shape. It looked simple but when children tried they went haywire. Anyhow
they made their paratha of different shapes and enjoyed it & lot.
2. The Delhi Hunt planned by Saba was informative and enjoyable. It also made Rehan and his
friends think creatively and logically and stimulated their curiosity to explore and discover.
Above all, it made them experience the joy of giving. Discuss with reference from the text.
A. The Delhi Hunt planned by Saba was not only informative and enjoyable but also made Rehan
and his friends think creatively and logically and stimulated their curiosity to explore and
discover. This is because Saba planned the hunt in such a way that it led children to many places
across Delhi. Then, she gave them clues which they had to crack to figure out the name of the
place. After reaching there, a task was given to them which they happily completed. In this way,
they thought logically to discover and explore new places. They came to know about the Indian
Air Force and planes at the Air Force Museum. They also learnt to make paper planes. At
Nizamuddin Basti, children distributed gifts to the nursery students of the Municipal school which
was an unusual experience for them. That is how they learnt and felt the joy of giving.

A. Here, ‘Uncle’ refers to Retired Air Commodore Narendra Sharma, who was Saba’s neighbour.

A. Saba could not have put together the brilliant and informative tour around the campus of Air
Force Museum, Palam replete with anecdotes and a surprise paper plane activity for Rehan and
his friends without the help of ‘uncle’.

A. She had planned those activities as a part of Rehan’s 11th birthday celebration, where she
wanted to plan a party that was interesting, but not extravagant.

A. Zarine, along with the others, was at the Jamali-Kamali Mosque at the Mehrauli Archaeological
Park.

A. The group was looking for an intricately designed red and blue pattern. Zarine had spotted the
pattern on the ceiling of the Jamali-Kamali Mosque. Hence, she asked others to look up.
c. What were they doing?
A. They were exploring the various areas of Mehrauli Archaeological Park based on the clues
shared by Saba in the form of photos.
