CHAPTER 1

1. Introduction

Coimbatore Joint Ventures website is an outcome of the idea to


provide information about the properties in and around coimbatore. The website
at its basic level offers the following benefits, and possibilities for expansion.
It provides the details such as

 Who you are as a company – your origins, reputation in the community,


successes you’ve achieved
 What your company has to offer – products and services
 Information on how to find you geographically
 Ongoing projects
 Different ways to communicate with your company (phone #’s, FAX,
email, physical address)

The Website allows the users to view the ongoing project details, site
available for joint ventures, the client details and allows the users to contact
the company easily. The users can post enquiry details for which they will be
reverted with property details through mails.

The main advantage of this project is to advertise the property details and
clients for joint ventures.

2. Company Profile
One of the basic needs for any person is a home to live in. The
beautiful city of Coimbatore has off late been buzzing with multiplexes and
malls galore. With these changing trends, aspirations and desires, with
increasing disposable incomes and paucity of leisure time, consumers no longer
have the luxury of time to buy raw materials and supervise the house
construction. To fulfill that need, We offer honest and frank advice and
valuation. We began putting together joint venture of major developments with
land owners - all with a common interest to make a decent profit.

People who have invested in a land/sites have many options. One is to


retain the land/site for some time and wait for good capital appreciation.
Another option is to construct a house. The owner has to arrange for the
finances, and supervise the construction of the property, apart from getting the
required approvals.

Now, popular and right option, is to enter into a joint development


agreement with a builder. A joint venture involves two or more people pooling
their resources and expertise to achieve a particular goal. The rewards and the

The land is provided by the owner and the builder constructs the houses

4.1 System Design


4.1.1 Website Goals:

• Establish a web presence for the Coimbatore Joint Ventures Company.


• Provide a general orientation and stimulate continued interest
• Promote communication between prospective clients and marketing managers.

4.1.2 Design concept


The site will be built with importance placed on the notions of
contrast, simplicity and impact. The style must be young and energetic.

4.2 Description of the site


An official site for Test which will provide information about the
company’s profile, company’s vision, products, and support.
The page design will offer a balance in between the text and
surrounding space.
Navigation system will be of highly sophisticated and achieved by
the use of page-selecting pull down menus, well constructed local navigation,
search box, and other effective features.
The images used in the navigation sections will be as simple as
possible. In fact with the skillful integration of the style sheet, the design will
allow optimal download speeds.
With the dynamic design of the site, it will help in contributing
the wide recognition of the products.

6.1 Feasibility Study

Economic Feasibility
Hosting – Once the site is built, it must be hosted on a public
server so the general public can access it through their internet provider.
Hosting costs vary. Service varies widely as well. The ideal host will offer
several services bundled together for one affordable price. Look for these
services:
a. The space provided for your site on the server should have ample
room for high traffic (bandwidth). When a site doesn’t have enough
bandwidth, the web visitor finds the site slow loading and difficult to
access.
b. The hosting package should have at least one email address that can be
accessed through the web.
c. The Hosting package should have a reliable track record of
maintaining high dependability. When your server goes down, your
web site and associated email is unavailable.
Domain Name – a domain name is the web address where users find your web
site. Domain names are unique and cannot be duplicated. The cost for
registering a unique domain name is about $35 per year.

Additional Costs – can include:


1. Email services with multiple email accounts.
2. Internet marketing services – researching how best to promote your site
and get the maximum visibility, drawing more visitors to your site.

6.2 Operational feasibility

Operational feasibility is a measure of how well a proposed system


solves the problems, and takes advantage of the opportunities identified during
scope definition and how it satisfies the requirements identified in the
requirements analysis phase of system development.

6.3 Schedule feasibility

A project will fail if it takes too long to be completed before it is


useful. Typically this means estimating how long the system will take to
develop, and if it can be completed in a given time period using some methods
like payback period. Schedule feasibility is a measure of how reasonable the
project timetable is. Given our technical expertise, are the project deadlines
reasonable? Some projects are initiated with specific deadlines. You need to
determine whether the deadlines are mandatory or desirable.

7.1 Testing

Software testing is an investigation conducted to provide stakeholders


with information about the quality of the product or service under test.Software
testing can also provide an objective, independent view of the software to allow
the business to appreciate and understand the risks of software implementation.
Test techniques include, but are not limited to, the process of executing a
program or application with the intent of finding software bugs (errors or other
defects).
Software testing can be stated as the process of validating and verifying that a
software program/application/product:
1. meets the requirements that guided its design and development;
2. works as expected; and
3. can be implemented with the same characteristics.

7.1.1 The Testing Spectrum

Testing is involved in every stage of software life cycle, but the testing done at
each level of software development is different in nature and has different
objectives.

Unit Testing is done at the lowest level. It tests the basic unit of software,
which is the smallest testable piece of software, and is often called “unit”,
“module”, or “component” interchangeably.

Integration Testing is performed when two or more tested units are combined
into a larger structure.

The test is often done on both the interfaces between the components and
the larger structure being constructed, if its quality property cannot be assessed
from its components.

System Testing tends to affirm the end-to-end quality of the entire system.
System test is often based on the functional/requirement specification of the
system. Non-functional quality attributes, such as reliability, security, and
maintainability, are also checked.

Acceptance Testing is done when the completed system is handed over from the
developers to the customers or users. The purpose of acceptance testing is
rather to give confidence that the system is working than to find errors.

7.2 Functional Technique and Structural Technique

The information flow of testing is shown in Figure 7.3 As we can see,


testing involves the configuration of proper inputs, execution of the software
over the input, and the analysis of the output. The “Software Configuration”
includes requirements specification, design specification, source code, and so
on. The “Test Configuration” includes test cases, test plan and procedures, and
testing tools.

Based on the testing information flow, a testing technique specifies the


strategy used in testing to select input test cases and analyze test results.

Different techniques reveal different quality aspects of a software system, and
there are two major categories of testing techniques, functional and structural.

Functional Testing: the software program or system under test is viewed as a


“black box”.
The selection of test cases for functional testing is based on the
requirement or design specification of the software entity under test.
Examples of expected results, some times are called test oracles, include
requirement/design specifications, hand calculated values, and simulated
results. Functional testing emphasizes on the external behavior of the software
entity.

Structural Testing : the software entity is viewed as a “ white box”. The


selection of test cases is based on the implementation of the software entity.
The goal of selecting such test cases is to cause the execution of specific spots
in the software entity, such as specific statements, program branches or paths.
The expected results are evaluated on a set of coverage criteria . Examples of
coverage criteria include path coverage, branch coverage, and data-flow
coverage. Structural testing emphasizes on the internal structure of the
software entity.

7.3 Testing Frameworks and Methodologies


Unlike posters or brochures, websites are designed to be used. So
it’s important to get real people to test your site, in order to identify any
usability problems early on.
The website will be the first point of contact with many customers. If they find
the experience slow and frustrating, that’s how they are going to think about
the company. Small amounts of testing should be done throughout the web
design process. Even on small sites, it’s important to do at least a little bit.
After the site is uploaded to the server, it’s is tested with as many
as computers and web browsers as possible, in order to check everything’s
working as expected.

 Card Sorting is a really useful way to decide how to structure the site.
 Name of each page was written on a card and shuffled, potential
customers were asked to sort the cards into groups and to name each

Wireframe Testing
 It is a working prototype of the site without colours and images
 The usability problems were uncovered in the design process by
informing the potential customers to perform the key task such as send
the enquiry details

Third party feedback was collected based on the look and feel and the

 Acceptance testing is independent of the website development process
and perform by end users and stakeholders before formally accepting the
delivered product.

Static Analysis and Dynamic Analysis

Based on whether the actual execution of software under evaluation is
needed or not, there are two major categories of quality assurance activities:

Static Analysis focuses on the range of methods that are used to


determine or estimate software quality without reference to actual executions.
Techniques in this area include code inspection, program analysis, symbolic
analysis, and model checking.

Dynamic Analysis deals with specific methods for ascertaining and/or


approximating software quality through actual executions, i.e., with real data
and under real (or simulated) circumstances. Techniques in this area include
synthesis of inputs, the use of structurally dictated testing procedures, and the
automation of testing environment generation.
Generally the static and dynamic methods are sometimes inseparable, but can
almost always discussed separately. In this paper, we mean dynamic analysis
when we say testing, since most of the testing activities (thus all the techniques
studied in this paper) require the execution of the software.
