Cal 2 - Sim

This self-instructional material provides guidance on integrating logarithmic functions. The objectives are to understand how to integrate logarithmic functions and demonstrate solving integration of logarithmic functions. It includes examples of integrating logarithmic functions both with and without u-substitution. Activities are provided to have the user integrate given logarithmic functions and explain the process. The key formula provided is that the antiderivative of a logarithmic function is given by the integral of x-1 dx = ln|x| + C, where C is the constant of integration.

Integration of Logarithmic Functions

Integration/Antidifferentiation
Integration is a fundamental operation of
calculus that involves finding the integral of a
function. It is the reverse process of differentiation,
which is used to find the derivative of a function.

Logarithmic Functions
A logarithmic function is the inverse of an
exponential function. It is a mathematical function
that maps a positive number to the power to which
another fixed positive number, called the base, must
be raised to produce that number.

Formula:
The antiderivative of a logarithmic function is
given by the formula:
∫ x −1 dx=ln|x|+ C

where C is the constant of integration.
