Training Design CP Cal 2023SH

This proposal outlines a two-day training workshop on enhancing the school contingency plan for Calunangan Elementary School. The training aims to help participants (10 school staff) review and discuss their contingency plan and craft an enhanced version based on DepEd guidelines. The training is in response to the Philippines' susceptibility to climate change impacts like typhoons and flooding. Having an effective contingency plan is important for coordinating the school's response and reducing risks. The training will cover learner safety, community engagement, personnel management, and laws/policies regarding staff rights. It aims to align with DepEd's professional development priorities for teachers and school leaders in planning for diverse learners and difficult circumstances.

Implementation
Congruent to DepEd’s mandate and the national framework for DRRM, the
Rationale establishment of a Comprehensive DRRM in Basic Education Framework have been
implementing DRRM programs, projects, and activities to ensure access to basic
education which is often disrupted by emergencies and disasters. Indeed, the
Department of Education issues DepEd Order No. 033, s. 2021 School-Based
Disaster Preparedness and Response Measures for Tropical Cyclones, Flooding and
Other Weather-Related Disturbances and Calamities. It is imperative that the school,
with the support of the various levels of governance and office of DepEd to create,
enhance and maintain mechanisms for anticipating, preparing for, and responding to
the impacts of such hazards.
In fact, our country and particularly our province is easily susceptible to the
adverse effects of climate change and global warming due to the geographic location
of our place. Indeed, the occurrence of weather disturbances, flash floods, landslides,
typhoon, soil erosion, drought, earthquake are some of the environmental serious
consequences of changes in our climate. Besides, man-made hazards also poised a
real threat to lives of the learners, school personnel and school properties.
Thus, significant actions are being undertaken to mitigate the risk of
continuous calamities whether natural or human-induced hazards. So, our
Department of Education, particularly Calunangan Elementary School shall conduct
a Two (2)- Day Live-out Training Workshop on the Enhancement of School
Contingency Plan on December 16-17, 2023 at Grade III Classroom of Calunangan
Elementary School. Merida District.
The purpose of this School Contingency Plan is to coordinate these actions to
reduce risk to life and damage to property. By providing the local agencies and the
public with information and advice so that they can respond to potential storms, rain-
induced flooding, landslides, earthquakes, fire, abnormal heat index and other
hazards.
Furthermore, this Contingency Plan is intended for all school personnel,
learners, GPTA members, barangay officials, municipal officials, and school
DRRMC members that will play a key role in warning, mitigation, preparedness, and
emergency response when an impending hazard/s threaten the school.
This Two (2)- Day Live-out Training Workshop on the Enhancement of School
