6 Q-DAS Reporting System
Introduction 7
1 Introduction
The Q-DAS® Reporting System helps you to automate the manual data
evaluation conducted by certain Q-DAS® products.
You can
• create evaluation plans.
• conduct evaluations at regular intervals or at a particular
time.
• print standard reports according to the evaluation results or
send them via e-mail.
The Q-DAS® Reporting System includes the File Reporting and the Da-
tabase Reporting. The File Reporting evaluates data from files and cre-
ates reports. The Database Reporting loads data from the Q-DAS®
database using predefined selection options.
The Q-DAS® Reporting System can access all available reports and
evaluation strategies that are saved in the modules of the M-QIS-Server
(M-QIS-S). If you have created individual reports using the Q-DAS®
Form Designer, these reports are also available in the Q-DAS® Report-
ing System.
The active configurations are carried out according to your default set-
tings. The time of the next configuration is displayed under Next event.
Working with the Q-DAS® Reporting System 9
In the lower section of the Q-DAS® Reporting System window, all ac-
tions executed by the Q-DAS® Reporting System are listed. Thus, you
can retrace the last procedures which make it easier to detect problems
quickly.
Click on the Protocol CFG tab to enter e-mail recipients that will be in-
formed in case of a system error.
Click on the Setup system printer button to access the printer settings
available in the M-QIS-Server modules and to adjust them. Find a de-
scription of the setting options in the Software Configuration and User
Administration manual.
Click on the Clear protocol button to delete the currently displayed proto-
col.
Note: In the software installation directory under “…M-QIS-
S\PROGRAM\Bin\...“, task-related daily protocols are stored.
Click on the Edit button to edit the highlighted configuration. If you want
to create a new configuration using the current settings as template, click
on New in the Q-DAS® Reporting System window (see chapter 3.2).
If you want to activate or deactivate single configurations, click on the
Activate or Deactivate button. These steps are not saved and retain their
validity until the end of the current session.
Start an active configuration by clicking on the Start now button. This but-
ton is only enabled for already activated configurations.
During the evaluation, the protocol section informs about the actual pro-
gress of the procedure. If the Show status checkbox is enabled, a green
or red smiley is displayed when the evaluation is completed.
If a red smiley shows up, a list displaying the occurred alarms is also
displayed.
Every time you start, close, minimize or maximize the program now, you
are prompted for your password.
When the Reporting CFG window opens, enter a name for the new re-
porting configuration in the Name input field. Then you can start to con-
figure the reporting.
- Active
Check this box to activate and do the current reporting job au-
tomatically when restarting the software. If you do not check this
box, you need to start the job manually.
- Database connection
If the reporting job should not access the default database con-
nection, click on the following button to select a database
connection file (*.UDL). This file defines which database the re-
porting configuration accesses.
Note: Find a description of how to create new database
connections in the Software Configuration and
User Administration manual.
- Module
Select the M-QIS-S Module for this configuration. Then the pro-
gram evaluates data using this module.
- Language
Select the language of the evaluation and the reports.
- Strategy
Select which evaluation strategy you want to use to evaluate the
data.
- Show status
Check this box to display a smiley (see chapter 3) after each re-
porting job is completed.
- Report assignment for Reporting System
14 Q-DAS Reporting System
(1) Select the Daily radio button and enter the time when the reporting
job should be started.
(2) Select the Weekly radio button and select the time and the day of
the week when the reporting job should be started.
(3) Select the Monthly radio button to start monthly evaluations auto-
matically. You can choose the time, the day of the week and the
day of the month (1…31) when the reporting job shall start.
Note: If you want to start the job always on the last day of the
month, select 31. Concerning months that do not have
31 days, the job starts on the last day of the month.
(4) Select the Simple radio button for a one-time reporting job. Choose
the time and date when the job should start.
(5) Define shorter time intervals to start the job by selecting All…Min.
Then enter the required information.
16 Q-DAS Reporting System
- Selection
Under selection, all available database selections are displayed
with which the user has already started the Q-DAS® Reporting
System (the super user by default).
- New / Edit
Click on this button to open the Read from database window.
Here you can create new complex filters or new selections.
Note: Find a detailed description of how to create new
filters and selections in the Q-DBM Database ma-
nual. There you can also find more information
about how to save selection options deviating
from the standard (Options for this selection func-
tion). Proceed as described in the manual to en-
able the options displayed below as well as many
other setting options.
18 Q-DAS Reporting System
- Group parts
Check this box to group parts with the same information in the
Part number K field (K1001) and the Part description field
(K1002).
Note: For downward compatibility reasons, this option is
still available here. When creating new selections,
you can save the adjusted settings together with
additional setting options and selection options for
the new selection by using the Options for this se-
lection function.
- Sort
Sort the measurement values stored in the dataset into a new
ascending or descending order by another criterion (e.g. by data
/ time).
Note: For downward compatibility reasons, this option is
still available here. When creating new selections,
you can save the adjusted settings together with
additional setting options and selection options for
the new selection by using the Options for this se-
lection function.
Select the Deletion job for this period radio button instead of the Archive
measurement values radio button to delete results stored for Long-Term
Analysis as well as alarms and signatures from the database.
Select the Archive radio button to save the data recorded during a cer-
tain period of time in files. Thus, they are stored into the database.
Select the Source out radio button to source out the data recorded during
a certain period of time to files. After the outsourcing is successfully
completed, the data is not stored into the database anymore.

4 Additional Settings
Besides the configuration options that can be selected in the main pro-
gram window of the Q-DAS® Reporting System, the following options
such as the
- database
- report assignment in the Q-DAS® Reporting System
- division allocation for saving the results
- path settings
- e-mail configuration
- printer settings
- PDF configuration
are available and can be used directly in the M-QIS-Server modules.
Proceed as follows.
1. Start the M-QIS-Server (M-QIS-S).
2. Select the respective module.
3. Log in as super user because it is the standard profile of the Q-
DAS® Reporting System.
Note: In addition to the following description, you can find some de-
tailed information about the single configuration options in the
Software Configuration and User Administration manual.
Additional Settings 21
When you open the Report assignment for Reporting System window for
the first time, a default configuration name can be found in the upper
section of the window. Click on the New button to create an individual
configuration.
Click on the Delete button to delete an existing configuration.
Note:
By deleting a configuration, you also delete all corresponding report as-
signments of all parts.
Under Part selection, you can select a part from the database. Then you
can assign certain reports to this part.
22 Q-DAS Reporting System
Select a part from the Part selection pull-down menu. You can also
search for a part by entering a search criterion in the Search for part…
input field. Then the program lists all configured parts that contain the
search criterion in their part number, part description or in their header
data (only parts with an assignment).
The default setting prints one or multiple standard reports for all parts
and characteristics. In the Q-DAS® Reporting System, you can assign
single parts and characteristics to certain reports. However, if you load
and evaluate a part and this part is not assigned to any report, the pro-
gram uses the default setting.
After you have created a configuration and selected a part from the da-
tabase, choose the report that shall be output.
In the Report assignment for Reporting System window, you can select
one or multiple reports that shall be output. This list applies to the whole
configuration. When you deselect a report, this has an influence on all
assignments saved under the respective configuration name. Highlight a
report to select it. Then right-click on it to define the report type that shall
be output.
Additional Settings 23
If you do not assign any report type, a Bad Smiley Report will be dis-
played. With Good Smiley Reports, a green smiley is displayed. A red
exclamation point is displayed with Always Print Reports. Bad Smiley
Reports All Characteristics are marked by two red, overlapping sheets.
Check the Deselect characteristics with false alarms box and the charac-
teristics containing no or not enough measurement values for an evalua-
tion are not considered as an alarm.
You can also restrict the output of characteristics. Select a certain char-
acteristics class or search for a certain characteristic.
Click on the All characteristics button to display all characteristics again.
To highlight and activate reports, you have got the following options.
Highlighting

not. When you enter a subject, select the information, the sub-
ject line shall contain.
26 Q-DAS Reporting System
Think about the alarm conditions under which reports shall be output.
The Q-DAS® Reporting System can only react to defined alarms. The
wrong settings might lead to the fact that reports cannot be output.
Select whether you want to divide and evaluate data and by which addi-
tional data the data shall be divided. Choose the evaluation strategy you
want to use.
In the right half of the window, select one of the available reports for the
part level and the characteristic level. These reports are created during
the data compression and they are saved as PDF files at the respective
level of the database.
