6 Q-DAS Reporting System
Introduction 7

1 Introduction
The Q-DAS® Reporting System helps you to automate the manual data
evaluation conducted by certain Q-DAS® products.

You can
• create evaluation plans.
• conduct evaluations at regular intervals or at a particular
time.
• print standard reports according to the evaluation results or
send them via e-mail.

The Q-DAS® Reporting System includes the File Reporting and the Da-
tabase Reporting. The File Reporting evaluates data from files and cre-
ates reports. The Database Reporting loads data from the Q-DAS®
database using predefined selection options.
The Q-DAS® Reporting System can access all available reports and
evaluation strategies that are saved in the modules of the M-QIS-Server
(M-QIS-S). If you have created individual reports using the Q-DAS®
Form Designer, these reports are also available in the Q-DAS® Report-
ing System.

2 Functionalities of the Q-DAS® Reporting

System
Using the Q-DAS® Reporting System, you can

• print standard reports at regular intervals or manually.

• send reports via e-mail.
• send files to the MoveDir directory using the same directory level, di-
rectory structure included.
• access all available database selections in the M-QIS-Server modules
including the division after additional data.
• allocate reports according to the parts / characteristics contained.
• allocate e-mails according to the parts / characteristics contained.
• send reports to any number of e-mail recipients.
• create and save any number of configurations.
• use several configurations at the same time.
• integrate a template into an e-mail.

saved configurations are displayed. If you have not activated the configu-
rations yet, click on the Activate button.

The active configurations are carried out according to your default set-
tings. The time of the next configuration is displayed under Next event.
Working with the Q-DAS® Reporting System 9

In the lower section of the Q-DAS® Reporting System window, all ac-
tions executed by the Q-DAS® Reporting System are listed. Thus, you

Under Options – System Settings, the Databases, Report assignment for

reporting, Paths, Printer and the E-Mail configuration menu options are
important for the Q-DAS® Reporting System.

Note: In addition to the following description, you can find some de-
tailed information about the single configuration options in the
Software Configuration and User Administration manual.
Additional Settings 21

4.1 Report Assignment for Reporting System

This is an essential setting for the Q-DAS® Reporting System, as it de-
fines which reports containing the evaluated data are printed or sent via
e-mail. This report assignment is saved under a configuration name. The
created report assignments can be selected individually in the Reporting
System later on.

When you open the Report assignment for Reporting System window for
the first time, a default configuration name can be found in the upper
section of the window. Click on the New button to create an individual
configuration.
Click on the Delete button to delete an existing configuration.
Note:
By deleting a configuration, you also delete all corresponding report as-
signments of all parts.

Under Part selection, you can select a part from the database. Then you
can assign certain reports to this part.
22 Q-DAS Reporting System

This option is only available in the Q-DAS® Reporting System Profes-

sional version.

Select a part from the Part selection pull-down menu. You can also
search for a part by entering a search criterion in the Search for part…
input field. Then the program lists all configured parts that contain the
search criterion in their part number, part description or in their header
data (only parts with an assignment).

The default setting prints one or multiple standard reports for all parts
and characteristics. In the Q-DAS® Reporting System, you can assign
single parts and characteristics to certain reports. However, if you load
and evaluate a part and this part is not assigned to any report, the pro-
gram uses the default setting.

After you have created a configuration and selected a part from the da-
tabase, choose the report that shall be output.

The Q-DAS® Reporting System distinguishes between

• Bad Smiley Reports – these reports are output when a characteristic
does not meet the respective requirements.
• Good Smiley Reports – these reports are output when all character-
istics meet the respective requirements.
• Always Print Reports – these reports are always output.
• Bad Smiley Reports All Characteristics – this report contains all
characteristics that do not meet the respective requirements.

To allocate a report, click on the Load report list button.

In the Report assignment for Reporting System window, you can select
one or multiple reports that shall be output. This list applies to the whole
configuration. When you deselect a report, this has an influence on all
assignments saved under the respective configuration name. Highlight a
report to select it. Then right-click on it to define the report type that shall
be output.
Additional Settings 23

If you do not assign any report type, a Bad Smiley Report will be dis-
played. With Good Smiley Reports, a green smiley is displayed. A red
exclamation point is displayed with Always Print Reports. Bad Smiley
Reports All Characteristics are marked by two red, overlapping sheets.

Check the Deselect characteristics with false alarms box and the charac-
teristics containing no or not enough measurement values for an evalua-
tion are not considered as an alarm.

You can also restrict the output of characteristics. Select a certain char-
acteristics class or search for a certain characteristic.
Click on the All characteristics button to display all characteristics again.

To highlight and activate reports, you have got the following options.

Highlighting
• Click on the column header (report description) to highlight all
characteristics.
• Click and hold the mouse button to highlight a certain section
(you can even highlight several columns).

Activating
Right-click on a highlighted section to activate all corresponding reports.
If the reports are already activated, right-click to deactivate them (toggle
function).
When selecting a part from the database containing multiple characteris-
24 Q-DAS Reporting System

tics, you can assign a report to each characteristic separately. The

graphic below displays an example.

Note: The Q-DAS® Reporting System evaluates datasets accord-

ing to the selected evaluation strategy. The selected evalua-
tion strategy includes alarms. You can only output Bad
Smiley Reports when the alarms are enabled in the evalua-
tion strategy or some alarms have been stored in the report
assignment. Always Print Reports are always output inde-
pendent of the defined alarms.

The printers are allocated analogously but you can select the output path
of the files when printing *.pdf files.
Note: Find a detailed description of how to configure printers in the
Software Configuration and User Administration manual.

Double-click on E-Mail to enter an e-mail address. The report is sent to

this e-mail recipient.
You can enter multiple e-mail addresses separated by comma or semi-
colon.
In the General tab, you can adjust additional settings for sending e-mails.
Additional Settings 25

- E-mail text
Select a file and the content of this file will be inserted into the e-
mail as e-mail text.
- PDF storage path for e-mail link
If you do not send complete reports via e-mail but the link to the
respective report, enter the path where the reports are saved as
PDF files.
- URL of the PDF path (if this is located on a web server)
If you do not send complete reports via e-mail but the link to the
respective report, enter the URL of the PDF path.

4.2 Use of Alarms

To use the alarm functions in the Q-DAS® Reporting System and to as-
sign Bad Smiley Reports, a corresponding alarm configuration is re-
quired. You can use the standard setting of the selected evaluation
strategy or you can select configuration options according to the respec-
tive report assignment for the Reporting System.

The following configuration options are available.

Alarm definition for variable characteristics

Alarm definition for attribute characteristics

The Q-DAS® Reporting System always provides the Q-DAS® procella

evaluation strategy. In Q-DAS® procella, the alarms displayed above are
Additional Settings 27

activated. To set the alarm configuration displayed above you need to

open the Evaluation configuration O-QIS window. Click on the red O-QIS
button in the bottom right corner of the flow chart to open this Evaluation
configuration O-QIS window. Here you can set, amongst others, the
alarm configuration displayed above.

Think about the alarm conditions under which reports shall be output.
The Q-DAS® Reporting System can only react to defined alarms. The
wrong settings might lead to the fact that reports cannot be output.

To change the settings, switch to the Edit mode. Select an available

evaluation strategy and click on the Change button. Enter a login name
granting the right to make changes. In the original state of the software,
you can use the login name superuser and the password superuser.
Click on the red O-QIS button to activate or deactivate individual alarms.

After adjusting the settings, save the evaluation strategy.

Perhaps it is required to enter a new strategy name because the stan-
dard evaluation strategies cannot be changed.
28 Q-DAS Reporting System

4.3 Division Allocation for Saving the Results

These settings are essential for data compression (data provision for the
M-QIS Client – Long-Term Analysis).

Select whether you want to divide and evaluate data and by which addi-
tional data the data shall be divided. Choose the evaluation strategy you
want to use.
In the right half of the window, select one of the available reports for the
part level and the characteristic level. These reports are created during
the data compression and they are saved as PDF files at the respective
level of the database.
