Module 13 - Trans

Rizal traveled to Hong Kong and Macao in February 1888 at age 27. While in Hong Kong, he was welcomed by fellow Filipinos but was also followed by a Spanish spy. He found Hong Kong to be small but clean. In Macao, he stayed with a Portuguese man and witnessed a Catholic procession. Rizal then traveled to Japan, arriving in Yokohama on February 28. He was invited to live with the Spanish legislation and spent his time admiring Japan's beauty and polite people. Rizal developed a romance with a Japanese woman named O-Sei-San and was tempted to settle down, but instead departed Japan on April 13.
