GRADUATE ENGINEER TRAINEE (3 POSITIONS)

Terms: 2 Years GET Contract

Background

Tata Chemicals Magadi is Africa's largest soda ash manufacturer and one of Kenya's leading exporters.
Established in 1911 as Magadi Soda Company, the company has been producing natural soda ash at
Lake Magadi, Kenya, for over a hundred years.

As part of the company’s initiative that seeks and develop young talent through training and capacity
building. Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the positions of
Graduate Engineer Trainees at Tata Chemicals Magadi Limited.

This is a 2 years training programme that is designed to give young and fresh graduates engineers
access to a practical work environment where they can learn from experts, adapt their theoretical
knowledge to reality and create a foundation for their future careers.

PURPOSE STATEMENT

As a Graduate Engineer Trainee, the nature of the job includes various Engineering tasks but not
limited to planning, designing, construction and operation of the plant.

Reporting to Senior Maintenance Manager, the graduate engineer trainees shall perform a variety of
entry level engineering activities including preparing, updating and maintaining technical information
and developing and maintaining support tools for ongoing Plant activities.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

While undertaking the training, the Graduate Engineer Trainee will be responsible for the following:

 Proposing suggestions for improvement where appropriate.


 Conducting research and traveling to sites.
 Observe health and safety regulations at all times.
 Participating in meetings and attending workshops and other training initiatives.
 Analyzing data and writing reports according to specifications.
 Take notes and share your findings with your Supervisor and other relevant stakeholders.
 Establishing professional relationships with staff.
 Maintaining a high degree of professionalism and diligence
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

We are interested in candidates who have attained a minimum of 2nd class upper division degrees
within the last one (1) year in any of the following disciplines.

 Mechanical Engineering
 Electrical Engineering

KCSE Mean Grade of at least B+


In addition, candidates should have the following qualities;
 Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
 Team player and leadership qualities
 Highly adaptable to different environments
 Must also be computer literate
