MID-TERM ASSIGNMENT

Group Project – with max 6 members/group


DUE DATE: Day 13 (23:59)

Part 1 Please provide a brief description of your chosen project (0.5 marks)
Ø A short version of 5W1H
Part 2 Please develop a project charter for your chosen project (Part 1). You
may refer to the DCD Project Charter Sample provided. (4 marks)
Should include:
Ø Project and product overview: who, what, when and where+
estimated project duration and estimated project budget
Ø Justification (WHY): a problem statement + the business needs
to be satisfied + how the satisfaction of business needs will be
determined.
Ø Justification (WHY): detailed steps in requirements gathering,
information gathering
Ø Scope: Objectives + High-level Requirements (Acceptance
Criteria) + Deliverables + Boundaries
Ø Timelines with milestones
Ø Budget Estimate: Funding Source + Cost Estimate
Ø Alternative Analysis: a comparative analysis of the costs and
benefits of this project over alternative solutions
Ø Assumption, Constraints and Risks
Ø Organization: list all project members, their specific roles, and
the project organization hierarchy, position your project in the
organization
Ø Stakeholders

Part 3 Please create a Work Breakdown Structure for your chosen project (Part
1). You may refer to the Integrated Project in Chapter 5 on page 182 of
Pinto (2016) for an example. (1 mark)
Must identify key steps, including work packages, tasks, and any related
subtasks for the project.

Part 4 Please create a Responsibility Assignment Matrix for your chosen


project (Part 1). You may refer to the Integrated Project in Chapter 5 on
page 182 of Pinto (2016) for an example. (0.5 marks)
A RAM (RACI) with all team members and their clarified roles.

Part 5 Please construct an in-depth schedule for your initial project and the
Work Breakdown Structure with Program Evaluation and Review
Technique (PERT). Please refer to the Integrated Project in Chapter 10
of Pinto (2016) on page 363 for more information. (2 marks)
Should include:
Ø An activity table with estimated time and precedence(s)
Ø A network diagram
Ø A Gantt charts
Ø Project expected duration with 95% probability and the project’s
trade-offs of compressing/crashing activities
Part 6 Please conduct a preliminary risk analysis of your project. Use a
qualitative technique to evaluate project risk. Discuss your project
termination. See the sample risk analysis on pages 253-254 in Pinto
(2016). (1 marks)
Should include:
Ø A set of likely risk factors with discussion in terms of probability
and consequences.
Ø Qualitative evaluation of project risk.
Ø Preliminary strategies for risk mitigation.
Ø Discussion on project termination.

Part 7 : Please create a Process Book that documents your working process. (1
mark) Your Process Book should contain the following:
Ø Document the process in how you have created your project.
Ø When appropriate, demonstrate that you have researched relevant
fields and techniques for your project.
Ø Include analysis and evaluation of your work at appropriate
stages to show self-reflection and then to validate and make
improvements to your proposeproject.
Ø Display a developmental approach towards creating a feasible
outcome.

Importance Notes:
- All sources used, including the textbook, must be referenced. Paraphrased and
quoted material must have accompanying citations. Your document must be
formatted and references cited following FTU guidelines.
- Your written assignment should be no less than 15 pages, not including the
title and references pages.
- Plagiarism in the assignment both directly or indirectly is strictly prohibited
- Formatting: A4 paper, Time New Roman, font size 13, line spacing: 1.5 lines.
The title page should include the logos of FTU, name of the course, title of the
project, group number, names of group members, instructor, and place and
year of publication. (Please refer to the Report Cover Template provided by
FTU)
- The assignment must contain an abstract, and a table of contents.
