Dear all,
Welcome to Grade 7 Mathematics class. It is my great pleasure to teach you. A very exciting year is waiting for us. Five
lessons you are going to have on a week.

Course Description
Grade 7 Mathematics book has been prepared for use in the curriculum of Iraq Ministry of Education.The book is designed to
be student friendly so that students enjoy studying. The series of Iraqi Math books has been built on student- centered learning
according to international standards. The series of Iraqi math books for intermediate stage has been built on six items:learn,
make sure of your understanding, solve the exercises, solve the problems, think and write. The Math book for first
intermediate stage contains four basic felds: The numbers and the operations, Algebra, Geometry and Measurement, Statistics
and Probabilities for each field. The books consists of two parts. Part one for the first course which consists of four
chapters ,each chapter has its own exercises. part two for the second course which consists of three chapters and each chapter
has its own exercise.
Course Outline
Grade 7 Mathematics covers generally the concepts of and the skills related to the topics (units) below:

Chapter 1: Integers
Lesson 1.1: Mental Math, Powers, Scientific Notation.
Lesson 1.2: Operations on Integer Numbers and Absolute Value.
Lesson 1.3: Algebraic Statement.
Lesson 1.4: Solving Equations with One Step.
Lesson 1.5: Square Root and Cubic Root.

Chapter 2: The Rational numbers.


Lesson 2.1: Introduction to Rational Numbers.
Lesson 2.2: Operations with Rational Numbers.
Lesson 2.3: Percentage and Estimation.
Lesson 2.4: Gain and Rational Division.
Lesson 2.5: Direct Variation and Inverse Variation.
Lesson 2.6: Estimation of Square Root and cubed Root.

Chapter 3: Polynomials.
Lesson 3.1: Algebraic Terms + Similar Terms.
Lesson 3.2: Addition and Subtraction of Similar Terms and Polynomials.
Lesson 3.3: Multiplication of Algebraic Terms.
Lesson 3.4: Numerical Value of Polynomials.
Lesson 3.5: Functions and Organization of the Agenda.

Lesson 6.1: Rate Effect on the perimeter and Area.
Lesson 6.2: Volumes of the 3D Geometric Shapes.
Lesson 6.3: lateral area and total area of the 3D geometric shapes.
Lesson 6.4: Rate Effect on the Volume and Surface Are.
Lesson 6.5: Surface Are and Volume of Compound 3D Shapes.
Lesson 6.6: Paving Area.

Chapter 7: Statistics and Probability.
