09c Annex Pump Design

This document provides design specifications for a pump for the Faidhoka Deepboring Lift Water Supply Project in Bhaktapur, Nepal. It specifies a discharge rate of 7 liters per second to pump water 250 meters from the source to a ground tank, with a total head difference of 40 meters. Pipe sizing calculations determine a 100mm diameter pipe is suitable. Total dynamic head is calculated as 317.65 meters. A 39 horsepower pump with a discharge of 7 liters per second at 317.65 meters of head is recommended. Electricity consumption estimates show the pump would use 29.08 kW of power and operate 12 hours per day, consuming 349 kWh per day.

Headloss, H1 = f.L/D.v²/2g = 7.65 m
Assume Headloss in Pressure Filter = 15.00
Total headloss = 22.65
Total head for pumping = Level difference + headloss + Suction head
Depth of Water Table = 250.00 m
However take the dynamic level of water below the sumpwell for submersible pump as
(Assumed) = 5.00 m
Total dynamic head, H = 317.65 m
