Safety
This information defines the safety and information icons used in this publication.
Radiation
This icon is used for conditions that could cause personal injury from radiation.
Caution
This icon is used for conditions that could cause injury to a person, or damage to the equipment
or software data.
ESD
Possible damage from electrostatic discharge
This icon is used for conditions that could cause damage to the equipment.
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) is a primary source of:
• Equipment failure
• Equipment repairs
Electrical components in this equipment can be damaged by a low level electrical discharge
imperceptible to a human being.
Preventive Measures
• Check for an ESD warning label before doing any procedure with ESD-sensitive components.
All sensitive components have graphic labels that frequently include instructions. Use all label
instructions.
• Wear a grounding strap when you touch ESD-sensitive components. Check that the clip
remains fastened to a ground that has a clean surface with no paint.
• Repair components in an ESD-protection area or use a portable grounding mat.
• When moving ESD-sensitive components from area to area, insert and transport the
components in the special material made for the transport of these components.

1. For Backup Battery replacement only. Connect the backup battery wire (5) to the
circuit board.
2. For Backup Battery replacement only. Install the backup battery (6).
Important
Install the Kapton tape to the detector if not currently installed.
3. Remove the release paper from the Kapton tape.
4. Place the Kapton tape across the three bosses to prevent the wires from moving up
on top of the bosses (see photo).
5. Remove the release paper from the foam pad on the bottom side of the seal
assembly.
6. Install:
a. New seal assembly (4)—One corner of the seal assembly is notched for proper
orientation.
b. Access cover (3).
c. 12 screws (2)—use a T5 TORX driver.
Torque the screws to 40 in oz.

4. Clean all the black RTV from around the housing for the battery contact.
Do not use cleaners or solvents.
ESD
Possible damage from electrostatic discharge
Remember to wear a grounded ESD wrist strap.
1. Carefully clean the surfaces (2) on the detector that mate with the battery contact.
Do not use cleaners or solvents.
2. Apply a continuous bead of RTV (3) approximately 1.00 mm (0.03 in.) in diameter to
the front edge (3) of the housing and to the left and right edge (1) of the battery
contacts.
Make sure that the RTV does not get on the plated contacts of the circuit board.

Note
You must install the new battery contact in the same orientation as the old one was installed.
3. Install:
a. Battery Contact (2)
b. 2 screws (1)—use a T6 TORX driver and tighten to 40 oz-in.
4. Apply black RTV to the cracks on the left, right, and top edges of the new battery
contact.
5. Apply a continuous bead of RTV (3) approximately 1 mm (0.03 in.) in diameter in a
closed loop that flows along the front edge of the battery contacts, then crosses over
the caulked top cracks, and follows the overlap area in the housing for the battery
retainer plate.

Reset Button
The Reset button is located on the side of the detector. It is intended for a quick restart
of the detector software, similar to the action of removing and reinserting a battery.
Note
When the reset button is pressed the LEDs will brighten as an immediate feedback response.
Pressing and holding the Reset button for more than 5 seconds disrupts the detector and causes
an immediate hard shutdown. A hard shutdown should only be used when directed by a Service
provider or as a part of troubleshooting a serious condition.
Pressing and releasing the reset button 3 times in 3 seconds is only used in the most serious
conditions. It is intended for Service use only.
Pressing and releasing the reset button 4 times in 3 seconds is only used for detector AP mode.
Press and release 3 times in 3 seconds Resets the detector to private default settings.
(For service use only) • IP Address: 10.0.1.150
• SSID: CSH_DRX_FACTORY
• Passphrase: sundance2009
Press and release 4 times in 3 seconds Places the detector in AP mode and sets/restores the
detector's public default settings:
• IP Address: 192.168.1.150
• SSID: Carestream-serial # of detector
• Passphrase: sundance2009
The country code and channel are not changed
Important
• The diagnostic tool can only be used with the DRX Plus and DRX Core detectors. It cannot be
used on previous detectors such as DRX-1, DRX-1C, DRX 2530C or TDR 3543.
• The detector must be powered on and connected to the console in either wireless or tether
mode.
1. From the DR console or Image Suite Application, exit to desktop to shut down the
Directview or Image Suite software.
2. For Image Suite only, it is necessary to ensure that the Detector Integration
Package (DIP) is not running on the system.
Important
When you are done using the tool, it is necessary to restart the DIP services.
a. Click the Windows Start button.
b. Select Task Manager.
c. Click the Services tab.
d. Select Detector Integration Manager from the list of running services.
e. Right-click and select Stop from the drop-down menu.
f. Close the Task Manager dialog by clicking the X.
4. To connect the application to the detector type the following into the screen.
a. Serial number
b. IP Address—If the IP Address is unknown, leave the field blank.
5. Click Connect.
The application will search for the IP Address if it was not entered in the previous
step.
6. Navigate through the following tabs on the screen to capture the desired
information.
Tab Description
View battery information for the detector. You can click Main
Battery Battery or Backup Battery to view information specific to that
component.
Clear orphan images from the detector. Note that this just deletes
Orphan Images
the images – they will not be saved anywhere.
Tab Description
Note
For Image Suite software, the DRX Remote Command tool can also be launched separately as
an application from the bin folder (same location as DRX Diagnostic Tool).
8. Type the detector IP Address.
9. Select the desired toggle button for information regarding the private network and
Enterprise Wireless performance.
Note
Set Network Mode and the buttons below it are only for Enterprise Wireless configurations.
10. Click Disconnect when you are done using the tool.
Important
For Image Suite, after you are done using the tool, it is necessary to restart the DIP services.
Navigate to the same location in Task Manager, right-click on Detector Integration Manager,
and Start the service.
