The Humanities embrace literature, language, music, art, and even history and
philosophy.
In broader terms, the humanities are concerned with the thoughts, creations, and
actions of man
In the past and in the present. They tell man about his roots, his origin, his
neighbors, himself.
Impel him to ask basic question and to seek answers to them.
The Humanities have to do with making man more human. They are part of what I
call an inner space
Program- to put men into their own hearts and minds (Charles Keller Humanities
Journal Fall issue, 1963)

generation and
give appreciation of the past and people that made great contribution for our
enjoyment today.

DISCUSSION:
●The word humanities comes from the Latin word Humanus which means human,
cultured, and refined.
The importance of the human being and his feelings and how he expresses those
feelings have
Always been the concern of the humanities.
● Humanities refers also to the arts- the visual arts, architecture, painting, and
sculpture
Music, dance , the theater and drama and literature thus Art is very important in
our lives.
● Arts is one of the oldest and most important means of expressions developed by
man. And Art like love
Is not easy to define. It concerns itself with the communication of certain ideas
and feelings by means of
Sensuous medium like color, sound, bronze ,marble ,words, and film. And these
medium is fashioned
Into symbolic language marked by beauty of design and coherence of form. It
appeals to our mind
Arouses our emotions, kindless our imagination, and enchants our senses.
In every age or country, there is always art. Wherever we go, be it in a city or
province , here or
abroad, we surely have to pass buildings of various sorts- houses, schools,
churches, stores, etc.
So with all of these things that we see and perceive around us is called the visual
arts.
(source: Introduction to Humanities).
All of these things constitute and evoke emotions, feelings, and perception that
define Humanities.
It is what make us humans with distinctive existence and purpose in life. To fully
express with
Creativity and articulation, evolution for the survival of humanities. (MRT).
