I want to give many people the knowledge of the different fields so that they may have

more options that could match their interest.

Body

What constitutes a good field or major? I would say that a good field or major is one that

intrigues you while making you a livable amount of money. In this essay, I will explain the top 5

majors that are recommended, why they’re important, expectations, salary and interests that

would make that peak your interests.

AI and Machine Learning is the study and design of systems that can function on their

own, without human input. Some AI Programs include: Music recommendation programs that

provide music recommendations based on previous listening habits, and Robot chess competitors

online. Sometimes it can even include AI to perform human tasks. This job is perfect for you if

you can think in a creative manner, as well as thinking in a very analytical manner. If you also

want to play a role in positively affecting the economy, then this would be a great place for you.

Common education requirements include: A bachelor or master in Computer Science, as well as

knowledge of Python, Java, and R coding languages. An average salary for a Machine Learning

Engineer, a job associated with AI, is 160,837$ yearly. If we were to use this average salary as a

metric across all jobs involving machine learning, it seems like a pretty decent salary to live off

of. Common skills include but are not limited to: Coding, Comprehension, Problem-solving,

Analyzation, and listening skills.

Robotics is the growing field in which you focus on building robots that can replicate

human actions. This can range from building cars to assisting in surgery. Computer science will

help equip you to program the software that helps the robots operate effectively. This job would

be great for you if you like both computer programming as well as engineering. It involves hands

on and hands off projects. The most common job requirements are a bachelor's degree in

computer science, or software, mechanical, or electrical engineering, experience with CAD

(Computer Aided Design) is also recommended, as well as proficiency or almost proficiency in

C++ or Python. The average salary for a computer engineer is 109,000$ yearly, which if it was a

metric for other robotics careers, is a decent salary as it pertains to that field. The common skills

devices from malicious hacking attacks. Cyber attacks can be life changing which is why cyber

security is increasingly important. This is a great job for you if you naturally think ahead about

what could go wrong, and if you take a methodical approach to problem solving. Common job

requirements include a Bachelor in computer science or a Master in Business administration in

Information systems, Information security certification such as CISSP (Certified Information

Systems Security Professional or CCSP (Certified Cloud Security Professional). The average

base salary for a Cybersecurity Engineer or an ethical hacker is 112,026$ yearly. Common skills

needed are: Proactive Thinking, Problem-solving, Analyzation, Comprehension, Listening skills

and among other skills.

UX design helps shape a customer's emotions when using a product, service or system.

This can include both a physical product or more often for a website or app. UX design is

concerned with gathering and analyzing data to craft the most enjoyable and efficient user

experience. This industry is for you if you are interested in human behavior or if you want a

career where you can use your creativity. Common requisites include: a bachelor's degree in

human-computer interaction, computer science or psychology. It also includes knowledge of

design or prototyping programs such as Sketch, InVision, or AdobeXD. The average salary of a

UX designer is 105,430$ yearly, which when used as a metric is a decent salary. Common skills

include: Analyzation, Understanding of human behavior, understanding of human-computer

interaction, Comprehension, Problem solving and more.

IoT (Internet of Things) is a collection of devices and technology to connect the physical

devices with digital. Such as smartphones, thermostats, speakers. Anything connected to the

internet is in the IoT. This industry is perfect for you if you naturally tinker with objects, and if

you’re obsessed with the latest gadgets. Common job requirements include Bachelor in

Computer science, IoT or cloud development certification, as well as proficiency in Java and

Python. The average salary of an IoT developer is 103,320$ Yearly. Skills needed for this, is

analyzation, innovation, comprehension, understanding of IoT, and much more.

Overall, All of these jobs are great, and at least one of them will be something that will fit

your interests. I hopefully completed my thesis statement. I hope that you know about the many

different options in the computer science field. Always fully research your careers before you

dive right in.
