My life forty years ago was significantly different from the way I live today. The main factors that caused this major
transformation are technology and globalization. I have completely changed my habits from the past: my eating, dressing, and
entertainment choices are all different now.
Looking back to my old life makes me quite nostalgic. I used to live in a small mountainous village in a house that was
quite ragged and whose walls were made of stone and clay. There used to be a barn where we kept our sheep and the
donkey. I was then a five-year old reckless boy and much of my time was spent with my father in the farm. We used to plant
almost everything we need for the dinner table. Our meals used to be healthy and safe. Therefore, we rarely went downtown
for shopping. During winter, we didn't use to have warm jackets or sophisticated heater. We rather used to wear kechabias
which our mother made from the wool of the sheep. At night, we all used to sit around wood fire listening to our grandma
telling us stories and riddles.
However, that simple, traditional lifestyle is no longer existing now. Today, I live in a tiny apartment in the city. My
parents still live in that village which actually looks like a town now. Now, I work all day in a factory and before I come
home, I buy all I need for the dinner table. Yet, I always miss having lunch with my family and instead prefer to take a snack
at work. When the weather turns cold, we just switch on the heating system to warm the entire flat. Most of us order the
latest fashionable jackets and shoes online. To keep in touch with my friends and relatives, I spend some time chatting on
social media and when I get bored I switch on TV to watch my favourite movies.
Almost half a century was able to turn my life as well as my generation's living patterns upside-down. Though it is
undeniable that the modern appliances made everything easier and handy, there was much complacency and satisfaction in
the simplicity of the past.

My life forty years ago was significantly different from the way I live today. The main factors that caused this
major transformation are technology and globalization. I have completely changed my habits from the past: my
eating, dressing, and entertainment choices are all different now.
Reflecting on my old life fills me with nostalgia. I used to reside in a small village nestled in the mountains, in a
worn-down house made of stone and clay. We had a barn where we kept our sheep and donkey. As a five-year-
old adventurous boy, I spent most of my time with my father on the farm. We used to grow nearly everything
we needed for our meals. Our food was healthy and safe, so we rarely had to go shopping downtown. During
winter, we didn't have warm jackets or fancy heaters. Instead, we wore kechabias, which our mother made from
the wool of our sheep. In the evenings, we would gather around a wood fire, listening to our grandma telling us
stories and riddles.
However, that simple, traditional lifestyle no longer exists today. Now, I live in a small apartment in the city.
My parents still live in the village, which has now transformed into a town. I spend my entire day working in a
factory, and before I return home, I buy everything I need for dinner. However, I always miss having lunch
with my family and instead grab a snack at work. When the weather gets cold, we simply turn on the heating
system to warm up the entire apartment. Most of us order the latest fashionable jackets and shoes online. To
stay connected with my friends and relatives, I spend some time chatting on social media, and when I get bored,
I watch my favorite movies on TV.
Almost fifty years have completely upended not only my life but also the living patterns of my generation.
While it is undeniable that modern appliances have made everything easier and more convenient, there was a
certain level of contentment and satisfaction in the simplicity of the past.
