2. ARCHITECTURE ELEMENTS:
Sangath stands as a testament to BV Doshi's meticulous attention to detail and innovative design
approach. The complex's defining feature is its curvilinear vaults, crafted through Doshi's
pioneering use of Ferrocement. These vaults not only contribute to a unique aesthetic but also
provide effective insulation against the region's challenging climate. The interplay of solid walls
and voids creates opportunities for natural light, ventilation, and a dynamic interplay of light and
shadow.
Doshi's commitment to sustainability is evident in Sangath's construction. Through the utilization
of locally sourced materials and inventive construction techniques, such as Ferrocement, the
building minimizes its environmental footprint while maximizing functional efficiency. This
integration of form, function, and eco-consciousness not only demonstrates Doshi's architectural
prowess but also positions Sangath as a beacon of sustainable design, influencing future
architectural endeavors.

Sangath's spatial layout underscores Doshi's profound
grasp of human interaction and his ability to cultivate
conducive work environments. The arrangement
centers around a courtyard, a testament to his
understanding of community building and occupant
interaction. This design fosters idea exchange and
blurs the boundary between indoor and outdoor
realms, promoting a dynamic work environment.
The inclusion of landscaped areas, water elements,
and native flora intensifies the link between the built
structure and the natural world. Doshi's commitment
to spaces that facilitate contemplation, discourse, and
a harmonious integration with surroundings resonates
throughout Sangath. His emphasis on fostering
connections between people and their environment
