Geography Project Script Edited

1) The document discusses how urbanization, transportation, construction, and climate change are interlinked, with transportation and construction contributing significantly to air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions through their activities. 2) It notes that climate change is causing rising global temperatures and disruptive weather patterns due to human activities releasing greenhouse gases. The long term effects include melting ice caps leading to rising sea levels and more frequent extreme weather events. 3) To break the link between cities, pollution and climate change, the document advocates for sustainable urban planning through green transportation options, eco-friendly construction that reduces energy consumption, and individual actions like supporting green initiatives and practicing reduce, reuse and recycle.

P1
(energetically)
Devion aur sajjano( in accent),today,we're embarking on a journey through the urban
landscape, uncovering the ties between urbanization, pollution, transportation, construction,
and climate change. TITLE SLIDE

P3, let's dive in!

P1
(nods)
Absolutely, P1. Our cities are vibrant hubs, but let's face it – sometimes they're a bit out of
tune with nature. Pollution, be it air, water, or noise, plays a part, fuelled by our bustling
transportation and construction activities.

P2
(raising hand)
Wait, so are cars and construction sites the villains in this urban drama?

P3
(chuckling)
You got it, p2! Transportation and construction can be a dynamic duo of emissions,
contributing to air pollution and greenhouse gases. It's like they've got a secret pact with
climate change.

P4
(Dumbstruck)
Uhh wait…what is climate change?

P1
O ho P1…7th grade mai kya kiya tune?? Climate change is the result of human activities
releasing greenhouse gases, causing rising global temperatures and disruptive weather
patterns. DEFN + PICS

P3
(With intension to revise)
And what are the long-term effects of climate change?

P1
Due to rising temperatures, the global warming has increased…It is nothing but an effect of
large scale construction activities and pollution by vehicles, burning of stubble etc.

P2
Yes right, this has increased the particulate matter in the atmosphere leading to increased
condensation which is seen as smog.

P1
This traps the heat radiated by the earth leading to excessive hot days which we are
experiencing now inspite of being in the heart of winter. …

P3
The consequence of it is the melting of ice caps leading to increased sea levels.

P4
Ohh so it is Climate Change which is leading to frequent and intense events like hurricanes,
floods, etc.

P3
Over the past years…the ocean acidification has increased…which means that the water
inside the oceans absorbs excess CO2 from the pollutants, leading to increased acidity.
Acidification leads to death of marine life thereby disrupting food chains.

P4
Ohh so that’s why the corals in Great Barrier Reef are getting bleached!!

P1
So P2 & 4 did you realise something?? It’s almost like our cars and construction sites have a
secret pact with climate change!

P4
(intrigued)
How can we break this pact while ensuring our cities keep growing?

P2
(engaged)
Smart question, P4!Sustainable urban planning TITLE is our superhero cape here. We can
embrace green transportation, like electric vehicles and efficient public transport, and
construct eco-friendly buildings that reduce energy consumption.

P4
The Surat Diamond Bourse is a recent example of how our govt is promoting sustainable
construction. Also it cools water in terracotta pipes which acts as a natural air conditioner.
The building is constructed in line with the direction of the wind to promote natural
ventilation. It is constructed such that it receives no direct sun on its glass panels thereby
reducing the need of cooling.
P3
(nodding)
Also the metro being constructed is powered to work on solar panels which will not only
reduce pollution & traffic but energy conservation too!!

P4
There are countries which use the traffic movement on roads to generate electricity by the
installation of hydraulics under the roads!!

P1
(optimistic)
Join the eco-revolution, my friends! Support green initiatives, demand sustainable practices
in transportation and construction, and be conscious consumers. Reduce, Reuse & Recycle.
