2. Differentiate between delta modulation and Differential pulse code modulation technique.
3. A television signal has a bandwidth of 7.5 MHz. This signal is sampled at a rate 30% above
Nyquist rate and the samples are quantized into 2048 levels. Determine the binary pulse rate

4. Draw the functional block diagram of PCM transmission system and explain each block in
detail.
5. Consider the binary sequence 0100101.Draw the waveforms for the following signalling

6. Explain the principle of TDM system. How does it differ from FDM system?
7. Consider an audio signal with spectral components limited to frequency band 300-3300 Hz.
Assume a sampling rate of 8000 samples/sec to be used to generate PCM signal and peak
voltage to average quantization noise power at the output to be 30 dB. Find
i. What is the minimum number of quantization levels needed?
ii. What is the minimum no. of bits/sample needed?
iii. Calculate the system Bandwidth required for such PCM signal
8. Explain the difference between PAM, PWM and PPM. Sketch the waveform and show the
method of generation of PPM and PWM.
9. Consider an audio signal with spectral components limited to frequency band 300-3400 Hz
sampled at 8000 samples/sec is used to generate PCM signal. Assume peak voltage to
average quantization noise power at the output is 30dB.

11. A compact disc (CD) records audio signals digitally by using PCM. Assume the audio signal
bandwidth to be 35 KHz. What is Nyquist rate? If the Nyquist samples are quantized into
65000 levels and then binary coded, determine the number of binary digits required to
