Group 2

In today’s growing and innovative world, good methods of communication is crucial to

the success of any business, individual, or entrepreneur. Without effective ways to communicate
ideas and thoughts, we would never progress or learn from each other. Especially nowadays with
workers and teams of workers spread across different time zones, it can be a challenge to keep
everyone in an organization on the same page. According to an Owl labs study cited by Apollo
Technical (https://www.apollotechnical.com/statistics-on-remote-workers/) 16% of the world’s
population works fully remotely, with 62% of employees aged 22-65 occasionally did. This
shows that a large population of people require reliable means of communication and
collaboration, which is where our business and product come into play.
Our solution provides an effective fix to communication needs, most namely for software
engineers, regardless of geographical location. It will come equipped with many features like
file-sharing, version control, agile task management, and syntax checking, our product provides
users with a full-fledged platform to efficiently run any program or project. The user-friendly
interface smoothly integrates with Microsoft OneDrive, GitHub, Discord, and Slack with more
options available as time progresses. By creating an all-rounded solution our product gives any
business or entity an efficient means to relay messages and information to others in their

SoftComm company may identify business significant strengths and weaknesses and create a
success plan by analyzing the primary industry forces. To identify and understand the critical
industry forces for our software communication company, we took the time to consider the
following steps:
- Conduct a SWOT analysis to help us identify our company's internal strengths and
weaknesses, as well as the external opportunities and threats in the industry.
- Monitor industry trends:
o to stay updated on the latest trends and advancements in the software
communication industry, including new technologies, regulatory changes, and
consumer preferences.
- Analyze competitors:
o Research and analyze our competitors' strategies, strengths, and weaknesses to
understand the industry's competitive landscape.
- Evaluate the bargaining power of customers:
o Consider the needs and demands of customers and how they influence the market.
- Consider the threat of new entrants:
o Analyze the barriers to entry and the potential impact of new competitors entering
the market.
- Monitor industry regulation:
o Stay informed about any laws and regulations affecting the software
communication industry and how they may impact our business.
By considering these factors, we gain a comprehensive understanding of the critical industry
forces for our software communication company and make informed business decisions.

Market: Pains/Problems
- How to profit
o For commercial software, how to make a profit has always been one of the
biggest problems. If the buyout system is adopted, it will be difficult to attract
new users to the increasingly saturated programming communication software
market. On the other hand, if the model of free use + advertising is adopted, the
number and frequency of advertisements also need to be considered. If there are
too many ads, it is easy for users to get annoyed, they might give a negative
review of the software, or even give up using it. However, if too little advertising
is placed, company may not be profitable enough, resulting in a deficit.
- Get rid of homogenization
o In a highly competitive market, the first issue that needs to be considered is how
to beat competitors and stand out. Homogenization is one of the biggest obstacles
to achieving this goal. If there is no core difference between the software we
launch and other companies, why would users abandon the software they are
already using and use our software instead?
- Advertise
o After the launch of our software, how to quickly let users know and seize the
market is also one of the issues that need to be considered. It is very important to
choose a reasonable way to place ads, physical advertisements or virtual
advertisements. Put it on social software or entertainment software? Need a
YouTuber to help make recommendations on streaming? These are issues that
need to be considered.

Intellectual Property, Regulatory, & Technology Validation

- Intellectual Property Validation
o An online communication platform must ensure that all user-generated content,
such as messages, images, and videos, does not infringe on any intellectual
property rights. This includes ensuring that users do not upload content that is
protected by copyright, trademark, or patent law without permission. The
platform should also have mechanisms in place for removing infringing content if
necessary.
- Regulatory Validation
o Online communication platforms must comply with various regulations that
protect user privacy and security. This includes the General Data Protection
Regulation (GDPR), which sets guidelines for the collection and processing of
personal data, and the Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA), which
governs the interception and access of electronic communications. The platform
must also comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA),
which sets restrictions on the collection and use of personal information from
children under the age of 13.
- Technology Validation
o To ensure that the online communication platform is secure, reliable, and user-
friendly, it is important to undergo regular technology assessments and upgrades.
This includes measures to prevent unauthorized access and protect user privacy,
such as encryption of data in transit and at rest. The platform should also be tested
for scalability to ensure that it can handle increasing amounts of traffic and users
without slowing down. The platform's user interface should be user-friendly and
responsive, with fast loading times and minimal downtime.

Value Proposition
Our communication software, SoftComm, eliminates the need for clunky and outdated
communication methods, such as email and instant messaging. With our platform, developers
can easily collaborate and communicate through an intuitive interface, reducing the risk of
miscommunication and increasing productivity. Our software also integrates with popular
development tools, making it easy to use and streamlining the development process.
Furthermore, unlike a competitor's solution, our product can be installed and run on an on-
premises circumstance, guaranteeing data privacy, security, and ownership. (Note: Slack could be
our biggest competitor, already the most popular solution for software-developing teams. They
provide only the SaaS option, so some teams that prioritize data security avoid using Slack.
Providing more security could be our unique point over Slack.)

Customer Segment Identification & Validation

The target audience we wish to reach with our solution is primarily focused on software
professionals. With market research surveys, we can identify how large the market opportunity is
for our proposed idea. Additionally, the surveys help us find a variety of criteria, from the
features they prefer – all to the way to their commitment to a product. With a marketing tool like
MailChimp, we can execute a quick and cost-effective way to identify our customers.
Conducting customer validation interviews can help us form decisions about our product
by validating problems, solutions, and pain points. While segment identification can help us
identify our target audience, validation interviews allow for us to acquire more of an accurate
sense of our potential market. Person-to-person discussion can help facilitate finding more
valuable information in a short amount of time. This allows provides a space for potential
customers to voice opinions that can be easily documented by us.

Technology Application Validation

The Lean Canvas model uses the term "technology application validation" to describe the
process of verifying the technology a business uses to offer its goods or services. This part of
Lean Canvas is used to check that the company's technology is workable, scalable, and capable
of satisfying the target market's needs.
The Lean Canvas' Technology Application Validation area is used to verify that the
business's technological solution is efficient and prepared for commercialization. This may entail
putting the technology through testing and refinement, getting input from prospective clients, and
obtaining outside validation from subject-matter authorities. Based on technical analysis and
input, the Technology Application Validation component of the Lean Canvas should fairly
represent the viability of the proposed technology.
