Quality:

Quality is a relative term. It means customer needs is to be satisfied. Quality is of prime importance in
any aspect of business specially of export oriented products. Customers demand and expect value for
money. As producers of apparel there must be a constant endeavor to produce work of good quality.

Introduction:
Sewing section is the most important department of a garment manufacturing industry. Because after
receive the garments components from cutting section , all the garment's cut parts are assembled here.

Quality Management System:


Quality management strives towards the achievement of quality in everything one does. Quality means
conformance to customer requirements. In to-days highly competitive economy, business must face the
challenge of continually improving the quality of goods or services. A number of systems, measures and
techniques that are quality only are produced in the first place and do not originate at all. If they occur
at all, there must be corrective actions so that they are eliminated in the preliminary stage and would
not reappear. For increasing productivity in garment industry need a strong quality management
system. Here the flowchart of quality management system is given for apparel industry.

QMS generally employs the following measures, the quality assurance techniques are produced:

Inspect all incoming, process & final goods to ensure quality of goods.

Ensure that all patterns & grading of patterns are okay.

Inspect marker and check if it is okay and within consumption.

Inspect spreading, cutting & numbering.

Ensure if relaxation time is given to knit fabric.

Install in-line inspector in the sewing lines.

Install Traffic Light Chart system or other system to monitor quality in production line.

Inspect 100% goods delivered from sewing lines.

Inspect the table quality passed garments with Statistical Technique.

Control rejects goods so that they don't mixup with quality passed goods.

Control repairable goods, washable goods so that they can be double checked to ensure quality.

Inspect goods with right equipment's and in right conditions.

Inspect ironing, folding.

Make repeat inspection of garments prior to poly-bagging.

Inspect poly-bagging & assortment.

Final table inspection in conducted prior to shipment of goods.

industry. Without quality buyer don't interested to buy product. So maintaining garments quality is the

Quality assurance is defined as all those possible planned and systematic actions necessary to provide
adequate confidence than a product or service will satisfy given requirements for quality. The quality
assurance section is assigned to maintain consistency for uniform quality of the material in process &
various stages of garment manufacturing. In the garment industry quality control is practiced right from
the initial stage of sourcing raw materials to the stage of final finished garment.

Merchandising is the department which mediates marketing and production departments. It is the
methods, practices, and operations used to promote and sustain certain categories of commercial
activity. So it is a very valuable department in apparel industry. Apparel merchandiser is a potential
