1. Draw the lines of reflection symmetry and express the number of reflection
symmetries.
3

Rotational symmetry
The number of times the shape is exactly the same after its rotation about its centre.

2. Draw the lines of reflection symmetry and express the number of reflection
symmetries.

7

6. Reflect the given figure in the line y = -x.

7. Enlarge the given shape by the scale factor of - 2 at the centre of enlargement (5,1).
8

8. Find the scale factor and centre of enlargement of the given transformation.

9. Rotate the shape 270° clockwise at the centre (1,1).

(Hint: 270° clockwise is the same as 90° anticlockwise.)
9

Compound transformation

10. Find the image after the translation by the vector (−8
−4
), followed by the rotation 90°
clockwise at the point (-3,1).
(Hint: A translated shape and rotated shape of the resulted image must be drawn.)

11. Construct a bisector of the given angles.

(Hint: You don’t need to use the protractor. You can do by the compass, ruler and
pencil.)

Pythagoras’ Theorem
Right-angled triangle

• Any triangle whose largest angle is 90° is called a right-angled triangle.

• The side opposite to the right angle is called the hypotenuse.

Pythagoras’ Theorem
In a right-angled triangle, the square of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares of
the other two sides.

𝐴𝐶 2 = 𝐴𝐵 2 + 𝐵𝐶 2

100 m. Find the length of the short side of the football pitch.

3. The slant height of a cone is 15 cm and the base radius is 5 cm. Find the height of the cone.
17

Angle of Elevation

If a person stands and looks up at an object, the angle of elevation is the angle between the
horizontal line of sight and the object.

Angle of Depression

If a person stands and looks down at an object, the angle of depression is the angle between
the horizontal line of sight and the object.
