1.Explain in your own words Torrance’s 4 Criteria of creativity.

The four criteria by Torrance- Flexibility, Fluency, Elaboration and

Originality for me are correlated with each other. In flexibility a better categorization
of concepts and ideas helps the learner to have a better understanding and make the
learning more effective. Fluency implies understanding and can be easily achieved of
which can help to produce a great number of ideas to give solution to a problem.
Elaboration is the process of enhancing ideas by providing more details, and clarity to
the topic. Originality involves the production of ideas that are unique or unusual.
These four criteria of creativity correlate because it can be used to give solution to
problems we encounter.

2. Practice creative thinking. Do the following.

a. In two minutes, think as many uses as possible for a spoon. Eating utensils, bottle
opener, peeler, craft, measuring tool, for cutting, accessories, decorations, avocado
excavator, use for experiments, to hit someone, for stirring purposes.

b. Riddle A man has married 20 women in a small town. All of the women are still
alive and none of them are divorced. The man has broken no laws. Who is the man?
Answer: Priest

c. The Candle Problem You are given a candle, a box of thumbtacks, and a book of
matches, Affix the lit candle to the wall so that it will not drip wax onto the table
below.

Answer: Empty the box of thumbtack, use the thumbtacks to nail the box to the wall,
put the candle in the box and light the candle with the match.
d. Apply the problem-solving skills.

a. There are 200 marbles in a box. All the marbles are either red or blue. If
there are 40 more red marbles than blue, how many red marbles are there
in the box?
A. 40 D. 160
B. 80 E. 180
C. 120

Answer: The correct answer is E. Let x be the number of blue marbles,

and x + 40 be the number of red marbles. There are 200 marbles in the
box, so you have x + x + 40 = 200, which is equivalent to 2x + 40 = 200,
or x = 80. Thus, the number of red marbles is x + 40 = 120.

b. Three times a number is the same as the number added to 60. What is the
number?
A. 15 D. 45
B. 20 E. 180
C. 30

Answer: The correct answer is C. Let x be the number. Then, you have
3x = 60 + x, which is equivalent to 2x = 60, or x = 30. The number is 30.

c. If the length, width, and height of a rectangular box measure 1, 3, and 8,

respectively, what is the total surface area of the box?
A. 24 D. 72
B. 35 E. 144
C. 70

Answer: The correct answer is C. A rectangular box has six faces. The
top and bottom faces both have surface areas (8)(3) = 24 for a total of
2(24) = 48. The front and back faces both have surface area (8)(1) = 8, for
a total of (2)(8) = 16. The left and right faces both have surface area (3)(1)
= 3 for a total of (2)(3) = 6. The surface area of the box is 48 + 16 + 6 =
70.

From the Module on Meaning and Types of Motivation, I realized that, motivation is a
psychological state that drives us to take action, pursue goals, and achieve desired outcomes. It is the
force that energizes and directs our behavior. There are different types of motivation that can
influence our actions and behaviors.
One type of motivation is intrinsic motivation, which refers to the internal drive and enjoyment
we experience when engaging in an activity. It comes from within and is driven by personal interest,
satisfaction, or a sense of accomplishment. For example, someone who loves painting may be
intrinsically motivated to create art because they find joy and fulfillment in the process.
On the other hand, extrinsic motivation is driven by external factors such as rewards,
recognition, or avoiding punishment. It involves engaging in an activity to receive a tangible or
external outcome. For instance, a student may study hard to earn good grades or a person may work
diligently to receive a promotion at work.
There is also a concept called intrinsic-extrinsic motivation, which combines elements of both
intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. It occurs when an activity is initially driven by external rewards or
pressures but eventually becomes intrinsically rewarding and enjoyable.
Motivation can also be categorized as positive or negative. Positive motivation involves seeking
rewards or positive outcomes, while negative motivation involves avoiding negative consequences or
punishments.

“The New Teacher Education Curriculum and My Future as a Teacher”

Education plays a crucial role in shaping the future of individuals and society as a
whole. As a prospective teacher, I am excited about the recent developments in the teacher
education curriculum. The introduction of a new curriculum brings with it the promise of a
more comprehensive and effective approach to preparing future educators. In this essay, I will
discuss the impact of the new teacher education curriculum on my future as a teacher and the
opportunities it presents for personal and professional growth.

First and foremost, the new curriculum emphasizes a learner-centered approach to

teaching. It recognizes the importance of understanding students' unique needs, backgrounds,
and learning styles. This shift aligns with my own philosophy of education, which centers
around creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment. With the new curriculum, I
will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to design engaging and differentiated lessons
that cater to the diverse needs of my students. This learner-centered approach will allow me
to foster a love for learning and empower my students to reach their full potential.

Secondly, the new curriculum places a strong emphasis on the integration of

technology in the classroom. In today's digital age, technology has become an integral part of
our lives, and it has the potential to revolutionize education. By incorporating technology into
my teaching practice, I can enhance student engagement, facilitate collaborative learning, and
provide access to a wealth of resources and information. The new curriculum will provide me
with the necessary training and guidance to effectively integrate technology into my lessons,
making learning more interactive and meaningful for my students.

Furthermore, the new curriculum recognizes the importance of professional

development for teachers. It emphasizes the need for continuous learning and growth
throughout a teacher's career. As a future teacher, I am excited about the opportunities for
ongoing professional development that the new curriculum offers. It encourages teachers to
engage in reflective practice, collaborate with colleagues, and participate in workshops and
conferences. This commitment to lifelong learning will enable me to stay updated with the
latest research and best practices in education, allowing me to continually improve my
teaching skills and provide the best possible education for my students.

Lastly, the new curriculum places a strong emphasis on the development of values and
ethics in teachers. It recognizes that teachers are not only responsible for imparting
knowledge but also for nurturing the character and values of their students. The curriculum
emphasizes the importance of fostering empathy, respect, and integrity in the classroom. As a
future teacher, this aspect of the curriculum resonates deeply with me. I believe that
education should not only focus on academic achievement but also on the holistic
development of students as responsible and compassionate individuals. The new curriculum
will equip me with the tools and strategies to effectively promote values and ethics in my
classroom, preparing my students for success in both their personal and professional lives.

In conclusion, the new teacher education curriculum holds great promise for my
future as a teacher. It aligns with my beliefs and values as an educator and provides me with
the necessary knowledge and skills to create a positive and impactful learning environment.
Through its learner-centered approach, integration of technology, focus on professional
development, and emphasis on values and ethics, the new curriculum will empower me to be
an effective and inspiring teacher. I am excited about the opportunities it presents for personal
and professional growth, and I am confident that it will prepare me to make a meaningful
difference in the lives of my future students.
