STRESS
-refers to an individual's
entire reaction to potentially
hazardous and stimulating
stimuli in his or her external
environment.
-experienced when an
individual that encounters a
threat that he/she could not
deal with due to lack of proper
resources( McLeod 2010).
4 types of stress
1.) Eustress- positive stress and gives one a
feeling of fulfillment.
ex: winning a lottery and riding a roller-coaster.
2.)Distress- negative stress brought by
unfavorable events.
ex: losing a loved one or being fired from a job.
3.)Hypostress- understress or lack of stress.
ex: boredom and hopelessness.
4.)Hyperstress- overstress. This happens
when one is pushed beyond what he/she can
handle.

The stress response is a natural
physiological and psychological reaction
that occurs in the body when it perceives
a threat or challenge. It is commonly
known as the "fight-or-flight" response, as
it prepares the body to either confront
the stressor or escape from it. When faced
with a stressful situation, the body
releases stress hormones, such as
adrenaline and cortisol, which increase
heart rate, blood pressure, and
respiration. This response is essential for
survival and has been ingrained in humans
