Prayer

Everybody, stand up.


Are you ready to pray? Yes, we are!

But before we start, please stand


properly. Put your hands together and
feel the presence of our lord.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, Our Father…


and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Greetings

Let us now greet each other. Say good Good morning teachers!

Checking of Attendance

I will now check your attendance, once I


call your name please say ‘I am here
teacher’.

Okay let us start, where is ____? I am here teacher!


B. Motivation

The teacher will paste different pictures


on the board. The pupils will put the right
name of each picture. The names are on
the strips of papers that was put under
the selected chairs of the pupils before
the class started.

Okay class, are you ready to learn


another lesson?

But before that, let us have an activity Yes, teacher.

Now, everybody hands up.

Earlier, I put some strips of paper under


the selected chairs. What are you going
to do is, in a count of five everybody
check your chairs and once you got one
of the papers immediately go to the front
and you will be the one to answer the
activity, is that clear?

You will do this activity hurriedly but


silently. Okay? Yes, teacher.

Those pictures that were presented


earlier are related to our discussion today.
Again, what are the names of those Magazine, newspaper, almanac,
pictures? encyclopedia and dictionary.

Today, we will learn about gathering


relevant information from various
sources.

Gathering information is very important in


planning for your research works,
speeches, and other classroom-based
tasks. It provides credibility and depth in
discussing the topic with your target
audience.

The following are sources of relevant


information:

1. Encyclopedia

It gives factual information on a wide


range of subjects, people, places,
sciences, technology, history, business,
and government. It consists of volumes of
books in which the topics are listed
alphabetically.

Example: When I need to learn the


culture of Spain, I may use an
encyclopedia. Through the use of an
encyclopedia, I may also acquire
knowledge on the population and
historical places of the said country.

2. Almanac

Provides an annual publication containing


general information about government,
industry, politics, commerce, world
events, and sports.

Example: When I need to research the


number of typhoons that hit the
Philippines last year, I may use an
almanac.

3. Dictionary

Supplies information about words,


spelling, pronunciation, meaning,
derivation, etymology, syllabication,
stress, and level of usage.

Example: When I need to know the


definition and pronunciation of the word
façade, I may use the dictionary.

Again, what are those sources of relevant


information? Encyclopedia, Almanac, and dictionary.
Good job everybody!

D. Comparison and Abstract

The teacher will have another activity that


will let the pupils identify whether the
statement is encyclopedia, almanac, or
dictionary.

The teacher will provide a box and inside


of it, are the different statements that
signifies the following reliable sources.

And now, we will be having a game called


‘Pass me, Pick me”. I have here a box,
inside of this box are the different
statements. What are you going to do is
you will pass the box while you are
singing the song “Twinkle-twinkle Little
Star”. Once I say stop, the last pupil that
hold the box will pick one statement and
will answer. Is that clear?
