1.Cultural diversity and

Integration

Cultural diversity is the quality of diverse or different cultures, as opposed to

monoculture. It has a variety of meanings in different contexts, sometimes
applying
to cultural art facts like music recordings or art works in museums, and
sometimes
applying to the variety of human cultures or traditions in a specific region, or in
the
world as a whole. It can also refer to the inclusion of different cultural
perspectives
in an organization or society. Cultural diversity can be affected by
political factors such as censorship or the protection of the rights of artists, and
by
economic factors such as free trade or protectionism in the market for cultural
As goods. Since the middle of the 20th century, there has been a concerted
international effort to protect cultural diversity, involving the United
Nations Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and its member
states. This involves action at international, national, and local levels.
Cultural diversity can also be promoted by individual citizens in the ways they
choose to express or experience culture.
2.Benefits of Cultural Diversity

In the modern world, there are various benefits associated with cultural
diversity. The main key benefits of cultural diversity include;

• Cultural diversity helps promote peaceful coexistence among

people from different cultures and ethnic backgrounds in their
workplace, institutions, and social settings.

• Cultural diversity helps people to acknowledge that the world

comprises different types of people from different cultural settings

• Cultural diversity helps promote respect for other people's cultures

and learn how they function and live.
• There is beauty in promoting cultural diversity in society since
people learn new skills from others and encourage innovation
through dialogue and consultations.
• Cultural diversity is beneficial to people living in the society since it
promotes cross-cultural friendship, increases comfort, reduces
cultural stereotypes, and impacts positive attitudes toward people living
in a given society.
3.Promoting cultural understanding
and tolerance

Diversity and tolerance are simply two words that describe ways people
behave towards one another, and how they view certain things. Both
are supposed to help form a society where all receive the same
treatment and have the same opportunities and chances as anyone else
no matter what their physical, cultural, or other characteristics may be.

This world becomes more diverse every day. For the human race to
Treatment and have the same opportunities and chances as anyone else
No matter what their physical, cultural, or other characteristics may be.

This world becomes more diverse every day. For the human race a chance, old
attitudes and intolerance for another’s beliefs need to be left behind.
Imagine what it would be like to live in a place where differences in race,
gender, culture, religious beliefs, or lifestyle choice didn’t matter? The
United States is still the world’s melting pot where none of these
differences are supposed to matter, and most are legally accepted.
However, in day-to-day life, it’s usually a different story.
People tend to want to be around others who dress, behave and think
as they do. Some have no problem being tolerant of another’s
, but then there are those that condemn any one who is
different for any reason.
One Person At a Time, Peace On Earth Is Possible
The holidays are supposed to be symbols of peace and unity. Peace isn’t
a nation, it’s the heart of an individual. This is where the answer lies and,
once freed of intolerance and hate, the human race can finally begin to
celebrate differences instead of condemning them.
This year, use the holiday season for some self-evaluation to be in a
more compassionate frame of mind and to leave intolerance behind. To
avoid letting negativity get the best of you here are five things to keep in
mind.

• Educate yourself about all the different cultures on earth through

written text, videos, travel, learning a new language, or maybe even
a class in foreign cooking.
• Learn to honor the differences in others, as you would want them
to honor yours.
• Raise your children to be tolerant of differences, and to accept that
all are truly created equally.
• Never base an opinion or belief about any culture solely on what
you see or hear about them from modern media.
• Fight against insisting that others should believe as you do, and let
them choose their own path.

Education Provides A Way Out Often, simply taking a class to promote diversity
tolerance and taking a
proactive approach helps encourage tolerance and understanding.
Home study provides the space for learners to make the time, and
thereafter, whatever you learn becomes permanent knowledge.
Many people who hold jobs outside the home find it easier to further
their education when the workday is done. Home study psychology
continuing education is highly recommended for psychologists, social
workers, counsellors, and nurses who truly want to understand how to
promote diversity in their workplace.

4.Cultural festival and their role

National integration is the awareness of a common identity among

the citizens of a country. It indicates that even though we come from
various castes, religions, regions, and linguistic groups, we
understand that we are all one.
Such integration is important in the building of a strong and
prosperous nation. National integration is a positive aspect. It
reduces socio-cultural and economic differences or inequalities and
strengthens national unity and solidarity, which is not imposed by
any authority. People share ideas, values and emotional bonds. It is a
feeling of unity within diversity.
National identity is supreme. Cultural unity, constitution, territorial
continuity, common economic problems, art, literature, national
festivals, national flag, national anthem and national emblem etc.
promote National Integration.
National Integration most simply and briefly means national unity. It
is unity in diversity. It means unifying all the forces in the country so
as to give the idea of one nation.

Dr S Radhakrishnan has rightly said that "National Integration cannot

be built by brick and mortar; it cannot be built by chisel and hammer.
It has to grow silently in the minds and hearts of men.
The only process is the process of education" and through festivals.
Globally and nationally, festivals whether cultural, religious or
sporting are believed to possess the power to bring happiness,
entertain and unite people by creating a good atmosphere for
friendship and also facilitate cultural and religious harmony as well
contributing to national development through their trickle down
effects.
No meaningful development can be achieved in any fragmented,
disjointed or chaotic community or nation.
The idea of getting all the segments of the society integrated as a
single whole has become crucial and the pursuit of all stakeholders in
Nation building. Festival as a product in an experienced economy
forms the bedrock for meaningful development.
Getz (2011) defined Event tourism as an applied field devoted to
understanding and improving tourism through events. Festivals,
carnivals, national day celebration, anniversaries celebration,
coronation, music concert are all subsets of event tourism.
Festival on the other hand possesses the efficacy to integrate the
nation due to its potential in bringing people together in a
celebratory mood. It facilitates friendship, social cohesion, tolerance,
shared social and cultural values and experiences.
Festivals have become a medium through which citizens consume
and experience cultures. They also have attractive ways of packaging
and selling cultural performance and generating tourism (Picard &
Robinson, 2006).Festivals have been examined as ways of responding
to various forms of crisis; social, political, economic and as a means
of remaking and re-animating spaces and social life.

multicultural societies

1.Male and Female Workplace Interactions in Saudi

Arabia and Australia: A Linguistic Approach
When a person talks about language, it is generally referred to as a
mode of communication between people. However, different cultures
and countries have languages that are vastly different from each
other. If these societies spoke only their own local languages,
communication would have become very difficult as people, even
from different states from within a country in some cases, simply
would not understand
2.Equality And Diversity Case Study Examples
Introduction
Equality and diversity are distinct terms though they are used
interchangeably. Equality refers to equal opportunity for all so that their society
can be created. Equality aims to eliminate prejudice and
discrimination so that in the context of health care, services can be
rendered without discrimination in a diverse society. In a healthcare
setting, it means to make the service provider more accountable to
service takers (patients) and avoid discrimination at workplace.
Diversity which means difference, refers to respecting the differences
in individuals and groups of individuals.
Interview with individual from
diverse cultural background
☆“Diversity, equity, and inclusion are three very important topics to
me. I believe that diversity means representation across a wide range
of traits, backgrounds, and experiences. When we can connect and
engage with coworkers with different perspectives than our own, we
can more successfully achieve our overall goals. Inclusion refers to a
sense of belonging in any environment. For a company to really
achieve the benefits of diversity, it has to work to be inclusive in
recruiting, hiring, retention, and promotions. Employees in inclusive workplaces
feel more comfortable sharing their unique ideas and
perspectives because they can sense that their differences are
genuinely respected and appreciated.
“Finally, equity is important for making sure that every employee’s
voice is included in the decision-making process, that everyone feels
fairly compensated for their work, and that everyone has access to
the same opportunities. It’s very important to me that everyone I
work with feels safe, accepted, and valued and has an equal
opportunity to grow and succeed. Together, the values of diversity,
equity, and inclusion help create a workplace culture that drives the
business forward.”
☆Diverse teams drive innovative solutions precisely because they can be
challenging. By bringing diverse perspectives to the table, you get more
ideas, but also more people pointing out holes in ideas. The debate that
can come with differing perspectives pushes everyone to think and work
harder. That is one of the most challenging aspects of working in a
diverse environment, but it’s a challenge I embrace. For example, if I
notice that we’ve gotten to a solution fairly easily but that we haven’t
heard from someone on the team, I’ll ask that person to weigh in on the
solution. I’ve found that on many occasions, inviting someone into the
conversation might mean we’re debating an issue longer, but it also
means that we end up with a stronger solution.”

8.Contribution

● cultural diversity helps develop and enrich our lives in ways we may not
always recognize. Through exposure to different cultures, traditions, and beliefs,
we begin to appreciate different perspectives, ways of living and
experiences that we would have not been exposed to prior.
● Cultural Diversity also promotes economic growth by spurring
innovation and creativity through unique perspectives and knowledge.
When people from different backgrounds come together, they bring
unique perspectives, knowledge and experiences that can lead to new
ideas, products and innovative creations that shake up industries and
provide value for consumers.
●Celebrations like Cultural Diversity Day also reduce prejudice and
discrimination by promoting intercultural dialogue and understanding
within society. When people from different backgrounds come together
and share perspectives, experiences and knowledge, they are working to
challenge stereotypes and help us recognize the commonalities that exist
among us. This day helps encourage people to see the world from
different perspectives and to embrace diversity as a positive force that
enriches our communities. They also help to break down barriers and
eliminate negative perceptions about different cultures through the
dialogue and perspectives that individuals share with each other,
ultimately fostering greater respect and appreciation for other people’s
cultures.
