IT IS A PROCESS OF MOVING OBJECTS FROM OLDER PLATFORM TO NEWER PLATFORM

1. SIDE BY SIDE : NEW COMPUTER WILL HAVE ITS EXISTING CONFIGURATION +
MIGRATING OBJECTS.
2. WIPE AND LOAD : ALL OBJECTS IN THE NEW COMPUTER WILL BE WIPED/ERASED ONLY
THE MIGRATING OBJECT WILL STAY.

2ND PC :

START---SEARCH WINDOWS EASY TRANSFER----NEXT--- A NETWORK----THIS IS MY NEW
COMPUTER----I HAVE ALREADY INSTALLED IN MY OLD COMPUTER----KEY : TYPE THE KEY
SHOWING IN 1ST PC----- MESSSAGE WILL DISPLAY : CONNECTION ESTABLISHED-------NEXT---
NOW ALL USERS OF PC1 WILL SHOW --- YOU CAN CUSTOMIZE THE OBJECTS---TRANSFER

AFTER TRANSFER-----SELECT SEE WHAT HAVE TRANSFERED --- SAVE REPORT.

3. SETTINGS MIGHT BE FILE BASED OR REGISTRY-BASED

USMT COMPONENTS :

1. SCANSTATE.EXE ---- old computer
2. LOADSTATE.EXE ---- new computer
USMT CONFIGURATION FILES :

1. Migapp.xml :- Contain rules to migrate user profile and data. The
migrating folders are My Documents,Videos,Music,Pictures,Desktop,Start menu,Quick
Launch settings and favourites.

2. Migdocs.xml :- Contains rules that locate user documents automatically


without creating any custom migration files.

3. Miguser.xml :- Contains rules for migrating user profiles and user data.
4. Config.xml :- files specifies files and settings to be excluded from
migration such as a user's large folder full of images and musics.
