Before the Recovery
(1) This document describes how to recover the software of Diagnostic Ultrasound System. The
recovery includes operating system (Windows 7 or Windows 10) recovery and application
software (Doppler software) recovery.
(2) Determine current software version: turn on the machine, press Setup key  [About]. Write
down current System Software Version number.
(3) You need the following items:
a) A recovery USB flash drive with pre-loaded software from Mindray, or
b) Recovery package files (ZIP file) and an empty USB flash drive with minimum 16GB space.
(4) Make sure the machine is connected to AC power throughout the recovery. Do not disconnect the
power or shut down the system during the recovery process.
(5) All user installed drivers, including printer driver will be erased during operating system recovery.
You will have to reinstall them after the software recovery.
(6) The first several times of boot-up process after operating system recovery may seem longer than
usual, this is normal.

(7) For Windows 7 machine (Doppler version lower than V2.0.0), if you want to recover
the Doppler software to V2.0.0 (Rev45123) or later versions, you need to upgrade the operating
system from Windows 7 to Windows 10 at the same time.

(8) Windows 10 needs to be activated after the operating system recovery.

1 Step One - Data Backup
(1) Back up user preset data.

User preset data may be erased during the recovery. Mindray strongly recommends
backing up user presets prior to the recovery.
To back up user presets to a USB flash drive:
Plug a USB flash drive into the machine, press Setup key on the keyboard, click [Maintenance],
select the type of the preset data, and click [Export]. Select USB drive, type a name for the preset
data file and click OK.
(2) Back up patient data.

Even though patient data including patient info, images, cine loops and reports
usually will not be affected during recovery, for safety consideration, Mindray strongly
recommends having all the patient data backed up before the recovery.

Refer to operator’s manual for detailed instructions of how to backup patient data.

Patient data and presets from a software version might not be compatible with other
software versions.

2 Step Two – Make the Recovery
USB Flash Drive
(1) If you already have a recovery USB flash drive ordered from Mindray, this step is not necessary.

Continue to Step Three – System Recovery.

(2) Format the USB flash drive.

1. Formatting the USB flash drive will erase ALL the data on it. Back them up prior to the
formatting if necessary.
2. The system supports only FAT32 format USB disk.
3. The USB flash drive should contain only one partition.

Plug the USB flash drive into a virus-free computer (we take Windows operating system as an
example). Go to My Computer, right click the USB flash drive (Removable Disk) icon and select
Format.

Select FAT32 as File system, click Start. Click OK if it is safe to erase all the files on the USB
flash drive. A message “Format Complete” will be displayed shortly.

(3) Select the suitable method to copy the software package:

You can download the application software ZIP file in the path \Software\Ultrasound
Application Software and the operating system recovery software ZIP file in the path
Software\Operating System Software from the website(TDP) provided by Mindray.
Note: Please locate the corresponding ultrasound model file folder to download the software.
a) If you want to recover both operating system and application software, extract the operating
system software package ZIP file to the root directory of the USB flash drive, then extract
application software package ZIP file to the “doppler” directory.

NOTE: Files and folders of different versions for OS or Doppler may vary; the following screenshot
is only for reference only.

If you need to recover the operating system from Windows 7 to Windows 10, the customer
needs to buy a "win7towin10.key". After purchasing, the “win7towin10.key” file has to be copied to the
root directory of the USB flash drive as displayed in the below left figure. Otherwise, a license error
will be displayed as shown in the below right figure.

In some rarely happened conditions for recovering the operating system from Windows 10
to Windows 10, the license error may also be displayed as shown in the above right figure. In this
condition, please contact the Mindray service engineer to provide the “win7towin10.key. After
acquiring, the “win7towin10.key” file has to be copied to the root directory of the USB flash drive as
displayed in the above left figure.

(4) If you want to recover application software only, extract the application software package ZIP file
to the root directory of the USB flash drive. Disconnect the USB drive from the computer.

3 Step Three – System Recovery
NOTE:
(1) To recover both operating system and application software, follow the instructions in 3.1
Operating System and Application Software Recovery.
(2) To recover the application software only, skip 3.1 and follow the instructions in 3.2 Application
Software Recovery Only.
NOTE: Do not connect other USB devices during recovery. The recovery USB flash drive must
contain no more than 2 partitions in the disk.

3.1 Operating System and Application Software

Recovery
(1) If operating system recovery is determined not necessary, ignore this step and jump to 3.2

Recovery USB flash drive to one of the USB ports.
(3) Turn on the machine. Repeatedly press the F4 key until a message like below is displayed on the

This message will be displayed if option 1 was selected in the beginning (3.1 chapter).
Note: Old user presets may not be compatible with the new software. For optimal performance,
loading factory default presets is recommended.
(9) Press Enter key to power off the system when the message below is displayed on the screen.

(10) Disconnect the Software Recovery USB flash drive and then turn on the machine.
(11) Skip the following 3.2 Application Software Recovery Only and Jump to Step Four –
Verification.

3.2 Application Software Recovery Only

(1) Disconnect all USB devices connected to the machine. Plug in the Software Recovery USB flash
drive.

(2) Turn on the machine and make sure the USB icon is displayed at the lower right corner of
the screen.
