When I was around 10 years old I liked to hit my siblings if they didnt do something that I wanted.

During that time I

thought it was the only way to make them listen to me and do things that I wanted. My siblings started to snitch on me so I
would get in trouble and my mom would take my iPad, hoverboard, and other things. Since my mom was taking my stuff I
started hitting my siblings more and blaming them for my stuff being taken away, my mom realized that taking stuff didn't
affect how I was hitting my brother and sister so she had a talk with me and explained that if i kept hitting them that they
would eventually start to hit me back. With my sibling being older, bigger, and stronger than me I didn't want them to hit
me back so I stopped doing it to them.
Looking back at it I acknowledge that it was wrong and my mom was right for taking my stuff and having a talk with me.
The lesson she taught me was instead of trying to physically hurt someone I should simply just talk to them and

,
communicate how I feel and what I want. In the stories ``Thank you, M’ am” by Langston Hughes “I Know Why the Caged
Birds Sing”, and “The Medicine Bag” There is an adult helping a teen, this relates to me and my mom because I had a problem
with hitting my siblings. My mom helped me learn to not hit them. My mom told me that if I hit someone, I would get karma
and they would hit me back. I'm thankful my mom taught me this because if not I would have never learned. Learning
lessons is super important because it helps us become better people. When we learn new things we can apply them to our
lives and make better choices. When we learn from our mistakes we can make sure not to make the same mistakes in the
future. Therefore it is good to realize the mistakes you have made so you can learn from them and become a better person.
In the story “The Medicine Bag '' Joe Iron Shell, who is Martin's grandfather, played an important role by helping his grandson
Martin understand and connect with his Native American heritage. Even though Martin wasn't involved with his heritage he
was still fascinated with his grandfather's stories and the sioux traditions. Joe Iron Shell realized that Martin was fascinated in
their heritage and invited him to stay with him and teach him about their culture. He even gifted Martin his medicine bag
which was passed down through their family, with Martin taking this gift he accepted his culture and the traditions that come
along with it. In the story “Thank You M’ am” by Langston Hughes, Louella Bates is a woman that stops Roger from stealing
her purse. After this interaction she takes him back to her house, while they are at her house she treats him with kindness,
she feeds him, and without judging him she listens to what he has to say. Instead of reporting him to the police Louella offers
to feed, give shelter, and give him guidance. She explains to him that he should be honest with people and learn to respect
them. Luella's actions made a good impact on Roger because he had never been treated so kind. Overall Louella Bates'
kindness towards Rodger had a good outcome, she taught Roger a lesson on why you should be honest and have respect for
others. In the story called “I Know Why the Caged Birds Sing” By Maya Angelou, Maya is a girl who went through a traumatic
experience, after that Maya no longer spoke to people. Maya was a great kid in school and she always did her work. Mrs.
Flowers is Maya's teacher, Mrs. Flowers takes Maya under her wing to teach her about literature and to help her to find her
voice. Mrs. Flowers gives Maya a book called “The Tale of Two Cities” and tells her to read the book out loud, Maya hesitates
to read it but as she starts to read she feels more confident in herself. Mrs. Flowers helps Maya with personal growth and
overcoming challenges in her life. In conclusion Mrs. Flowers helps Maya to find her voice and help her grow as a person. The
story “I know Why the Caged Birds Sing” is a good story to show that other people can really have an affect on you, for
example Mrs. Flowers helped Maya to overcome the results of a traumatic thing that happened in her life.
