What is Cloud Computing
Cloud computing provides computing services over the internet that
consist of software applications, servers, storage, networking and data
bases plus a few others with the cloud for a quicker innovation,
economic scale, and flexible resources.
Some Key Characteristics of Cloud
Computing
• On-Demand Self-Service - Doesn’t require human interaction with service
providers, to allow the user automatic unilaterally provision computing
capabilities, like network storage and server time.
• Resource pooling–This is when a company provides multiple clients or consumers
with provisional and scalable services that can be tailored to each of their needs
without making any adjustments that the client or end user may identify.
• Rapid Elasticity – It’s provisioning, meaning that it can provide scalable services
while people in the industry say it’s a scalable model that’s one of cloud
computing five fundamental aspects.
• Broad Network Access – Used to access information someone wants, regardless
of the type of device they are using and regardless of what the current location is.
• Measured Service – It’s a service that cloud services offer that scans and
measures provision of services for different purposes such as billing, effective use
of resources, and overall predictive planning.
Benefits with Cloud Computing
Cloud computing is a significant change from conventional ways
in which an enterprise takes IT resources into consideration.
Some of the reason's organizations turn to cloud computing
services are for the benefits provided by speed, efficiency,
productivity, cost, and security.
Services that Cloud Computing
Provide
Cloud computing is a collective term for the distribution on the
Internet of host services, and the services traditionally grouped
into three categories IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS.
SaaS, PaaS and IaaS
SaaS
Software as a Service (SaaS) is a service for the delivery
of software of a model in which third-party providers host
an application and deliver it to Internet users.
Pros and Cons of SaaS
The Pros are its connection capabilities, device and location
independence plus the maintenance. While the Cons would be
the control for data, security and its contractual commitments.
PaaS
It’s a cloud computing model that a third-party provider uses to
deliver a user the software and hardware tools needed for
application development through the internet.
PaaS Pros and Cons
The Pros are it has guaranteed compatibility, automated updates
and the reduced expense of it. Then the Cons are that its locked-
in and the scalability constrained.
IaaS
With an IaaS model, the cloud provider will host the infrastructure
components of the on-premises data center, typically containing
storage, servers, network hardware, and a virtualization or
hypervisor layer.
IaaS Pros and Cons
The Pros include dynamically select the CPU, storage
configuration, and memory that you chose to fit your needs. The
ability to use the immense available computing power from the
IaaS platform. Eliminating the vast expense with IT hardware that
the organization doesn’t use on regular bases. And the Cons that
come with it would be that its platform model requires the
availability of the internet and also will need to use a virtualization
service as well.
Risk Associated with Practical Use in
Business
Some of the risks that are associated with a business would be
the compatibility, compliance; then you have the trust and
confidentiality while the security isn’t going to be that great as
well. Then it has issues with the lack of control over both quality
and performance not to mention its impact on the company’s
Return on Investments.
Which One is Right For You
The question is dependent on the distinct use of the case. The
majority of companies will discover they're using all of them.
Hence, it's like when a large enterprise uses a SaaS app such as
Microsoft Office 365 and Salesforce, while at the same time
shifting an amount of its in-house apps to IaaS and creating new
customer-facing apps using a PaaS.
