How to force the Sailor FB 500 / 250 / 150 terminals into software
upload mode

Subject:
How to force the terminal into software upload mode.

Identification:
In case of a total software crash, using the normal software upload procedure will no longer
be possible, as the LAN interface and WEB MMI will properly not be working.
Using the “bootloader mode” will be a workaround.

Action:
1: Install a TFTP server on your Pc.
(In this case the SolarWinds TFTP server. An alternative could be the TFTPD32 tftp server)

2: Download latest version Sailor FBB software.

Rename the file to ttexp.dl Important !

3: Changing Pc Ethernet setting to Static - 192.168.0.2/24 Important !

4: Change firewall settings to allow access to the TFTP server Important !

5: Open the TFTP server (In this case SolarWinds TFTP server)

6: setup the TFTP server.
Copy the Sailor FBB software image (ttexp) to the TFTP server Root Directory.
(In this case c:\Bgan-X\tftp)
Start the TFTP server.

7: Switch OFF the Sailor FBB terminal.


Connect the pc to one of the four LAN ports on the Sailor FBB terminal.
Switch ON the Sailor FBB terminal while keeping the reset bottom pressed.
Release the reset botton.

8: The FBB terminal will now power in ‘bootloaded mode’ .(Power LED flashing)
Note that the FBB terminal connects to the TFTP server, and start downloading the software
image ttexp.dl.
If problems, check Pc ethernet and firewall settings.
Run step 7 again.

9: Once software image is downloaded the FBB terminal will reboot.

10: Check that there is access to the WEB MMI. 192.168.0.1
