CONTENT OF LESSON: DEFINITION OF COMPUTER
A computer is a general purpose device that can be programmed to carry out
a set of arithmetic or logical operations automatically. A computer is able to
take information (input), do some work on or make changes to the
information (process), to make new information (output).

CONTENT OF LESSON: CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT
A central processing unit (CPU) is the electronic circuitry within a computer
that carries out the instructions of a computer program by performing the
basic arithmetic, logical, control and input/output (I/O) operations specified
by the instructions.
COMPONENTS OF THE CPU
ARITHMETIC LOGIC UNIT (ALU): performs simple arithmetic and logical
operations
CONTROL UNIT (CU): manages the various components of the
computer. It reads and interprets instructions from memory.
