practical experience to excel in the field of network installation and management.
1.4. Vision
The vision of Queens College in Network Installation is to be recognized as a leading institution in
providing exceptional education and training in network installation.
Queens College is facing challenges in the installation of its network infrastructure. The current network
installation process is experiencing delays, connectivity issues, and inadequate coverage. This has resulted in
disruptions to communication, limited access to resources, and potential security vulnerabilities. The college
is seeking a solution to ensure a smooth and efficient network installation that provides reliable connectivity,
seamless coverage, and robust security measures. The solution should address the specific needs and
constraints of Queens College and enable the network to support the institution's academic and
administrative functions effectively.
1.6. Objectives

1.6.2. Specific Objective
These specific objectives collectively contribute to the overall objective of Queens College in Network
Installation, which is to produce competent professionals who can successfully install, configure, and
manage computer networks to meet the needs of organizations.
Observation:
This is one of data collecting technique which is the network employees go from building local area
network company office and observe in each installation up to network configuration.
Questioners:
This also other data collecting technique which is by ask face to face How to installation and
configuration of local area network. And also ask what type of network device need to building local
area network.
Interview:
this the third data collecting technique which is use the network whether face to face or by calling with
distance ask regarding to LAN installation and configuration and also need of martial. This like duplex
transmission mode b/c there is sender and receiver in the same as debate.

1.8. Importance of the Report
This internship report is an important document that serves multiple purposes and holds significance for both
the intern and the organization. Here are some reasons why the internship report is important:
Throughout the internship, I gained hands-on experience in installing network equipment such as routers,
switches, and access points. I learned how to effectively plan and design network infrastructures,
considering factors like network topology, IP addressing, and security protocols.
Additionally, I had the chance to work on cable management, rack mounting, and ensuring proper grounding
for network installations. I learned how to use network monitoring tools and software to analyze network
performance and identify potential bottlenecks.

CHAPTER TWO
2.2.1. Rack
In the context of computer networking and data centre infrastructure, a rack refers to a standardized
framework or structure used to mount and organize various network components and equipment. It provides
a secure and organized platform for housing servers, switches, routers, storage devices, and other networking
equipment.
Figure 1 Rack
2.2.2. Switch
A switch, in the context of computer networking, is a network device that connects multiple devices on a
local area network (LAN). It receives data packets from connected devices and forwards them to the
appropriate destination device within the network. Switches are a fundamental component of modern
computer networks, enabling efficient and reliable data communication within LANs. They provide
connectivity, improve network performance, and offer network administrators control over network traffic
and security.

2.3. Cable Trunk Line
A cable trunk line, also known as a trunk cable or backbone cable, refers to a high-capacity cable that serves
as the main communication pathway in a network infrastructure. It is typically used to connect major
network components, such as switches, routers, or distribution points, over longer distances.

We use this cable to connect the same type of network devices where the pins order on one end follows the
568a pinning order and the other end of the cable follows the 568b pinning order. That means connecting

Crimper
2.7.1. Crimper
A crimping tool is a tool designed to crimp or connect a connector to the end of a cable. For example,
network cables and phone cables are created using a crimping tool to connect the RJ-45 and RJ-11
connectors to the end of the cable.
Figure 8 : Crimper
Puncher: -is an instrument used to punch network cable in the header or patch panel.
10
Trunk: - used for the UTP cable safety.
Wall-outlet/Node
RJ-45: - A registered jack (RJ) is a standardized physical network interface for connecting
telecommunications or data equipment.
UTP cable is certainly the most popular type of network cable on the world
The characteristics of UTP are very good and make it easy to work with, install, expand
and troubleshoot.
11
An optical fiber cable: - Also known as fiber optic cable is an assembly similar to an electrical
cable, but containing one or more optical fibers that are used to carry light.
The optical fiber elements are typically individually coated with plastic layers
Long distance telecommunication, or
12
Fischer screw: This is inserted loosely into a drilled hole, then a screw is tightened
into the center. As the screw enters the plug, the soft material of the plug expands
conforming tightly to the wall material.
Screw: - The most common uses of screws are to hold objects together such as wall and trunk.
13
Steps to Crimp UTP Cable in RJ_45
RJ45 is a type of connector commonly used for Ethernet networking. It looks similar to a
telephone jack, but is slightly wider. Since Ethernet cables have an RJ45 connector on each end,
Ethernet cables are sometimes also called RJ45 cables. This RJ45 has Step to Crimped:-
Step 7 check
Step 8 crimp
Step 9 test
Strip the cable back 1 inch (25 mm) from the end. Insert the cable into the stripper section of
the tool and squeeze it tight. Then, rotate the crimping tool around the cable in a smooth and
even motion to create a clean cut. Keep the tool clamped and pull away towards the end of the
wire to remove the sheathing.
14
Untwist and straighten the wires inside of the cable. Inside of the cable you’ll see a bunch of
smaller wires twisted together. Separate the twisted wires and straighten them out so they’re
easier to sort into the right order.
Arrange the wires into the right order. Use your fingers to put the wires in the correct order so
they can be properly crimped. The proper sequence is as follows from left to right:
Orange/White, Orange, Green/White, Blue, Blue/White, Green, Brown/White, Brown.
Cut the wires into an even line 1⁄2 inch (13 mm) from sheathing. Hold the wires with your
thumb and index finger to keep them in order. Then, use the cutting section of the crimping tool
to cut them into an even line.
15
Insert the wires into the RJ-45 connector. Hold the RJ-45 connector so the clip is on the
underside and the small metal pins are facing up. Insert the cable into the connector so that each
of the small wires fits into the small grooves in the connector.
Stick the connector into the crimping part of the tool and squeeze twice. Insert the connector
in the crimping section of the tool until it can’t fit any further. Squeeze the handles to crimp the
connector and secure the wires. Release the handles, then squeeze the tool again to make sure all
of the pins are pushed down.
Remove the cable from the tool and check that all of the pins are down. Take the connector
out of the tool and look at the pins to see that they’re all pushed down in an even line. Lightly tug
at the connector to make sure it’s attached to the cable.
Cable Tester
Cable tester is used to check whether the cable is working properly or not. It has light indicator if
the cable is working properly the whole numbers that are written on the tester are bright
otherwise it becomes dark
