3. A Buck converter is a step down DC-DC converter consisting mainly of inductor and two switches (usually a transistor switch and a diode). It switches the connection of inductor to source voltage to accumulate energy in inductor and then disconnects the source for discharging the inductors energy to the load. Clearly, the control input to the system is the source voltage (Vin) and the system output is the voltage across the load (V,). Following are the equations according to Kirchhoff's laws during its on mode: From KVL : Vig = HE Ve +Veo a ae R dt From KCL : 2 +¢: Figure 1: A Buck Converter in On mode Similarly, following are the equations according to Kirchhoff’s laws during its off mode diy From KVL : Vo +L? = 0 Ve _ Ve From KCL : ix ~ 4p = CF Derive the state-space forms (i.e. A,B,C,D matrices along with system states, inputs | Figure 2; A Buck Converter in Off mode Ak and output vectors) of the continuous-time LITI systems corresponding to the buck converter in On mode and Off mode.
