1.0 Title

1.1 Public’s Awareness, Consequences and Suggestion on the use of the Public Toilets

2.0 Background Information

1.1 Public toilets are as the name implies, the toilets available for anybody to use, usually owned by a public
institution, a company, or a government.
1.2 It is the most essential public facility that needed by all segments of society.
1.3 The cleanliness of the public toilets in Malaysia is considered unhygienic if compared to countries such as Japan
and this is well-known by the Malaysians themselves.
1.4 According to 2013 statistics, only 61 percent of 10,257 public toilets are reported to be in a satisfactory condition.

1.0 Statement of Problem

1.1 This problem clearly shows that the awareness level of public toilet in Malaysia is still at a low level due to the
cleanliness.
1.2 There are causes and effects to public if the public toilets are dirty.

4.0 Purpose/Objective

4.1 To investigate the level of general public’s awareness on the cleanliness of the public toilet facilities.
4.2 To analyze consequences when public toilet facilities are not properly taken care based
on general public perception.
4.3 To determine the action that could be taken to overcome the cleanliness issue.

5.0 Research Questions

5.1 What is the level of general public’s awareness on the cleanliness of the public toilet facilities?

5.2 What are the consequences when public toilet facilities are not properly taken care?

5.3 What actions that could be taken to solve the cleanliness issue?
6.0 Significance of the Study

6.1 Increase the realization about the importance of the cleanliness of the public toilets among the general public.
6.2 Provide useful information and recommend the action that can be taken by respective authorities.

7.0 Scope

7.1 Respondents
The respondents consist of 50 general public around Kuala Lumpur.
7.2 Survey Questions

Survey questions cover four aspects which are respondent’s background information, awareness level or
comprehension of the respondents on the topic, consequences if the public toilets are unclean and finally the
respondent’s suggestions of the action that can be taken.

8.0 Methodology for Data Collection

8.1 Primary Data


Survey and questionnaire - A set of questionnaires that will be answered by some respondents and then will be
analysed by representing the answers in the form of chart. The survey consists of 20 questions.

8.2 Secondary Data


Online material researches - The questions in the survey are constructed based on the information gained
online.
