Q.1 Write the impedance matrix of the network is shown in Fig.1 and find the magnitude [10]
of the current 𝐼2

Q.3 Two impedances consist of ( resistance of 15 ohms and series-connected inductance [10]
of 0.04H) and (resistance of 10 ohms, inductance of 0.1H and a capacitance of
100F, all in series) are connected in series and are connected to a 230V, 50Hz a.c.
source. Determine
i. Current drawn
ii. Voltage across each impedances
iii. Individual and total power factor and
iv. Draw the phasor diagram
Q.4 Each phase of a DELTA -connected load comprises a resistance of 30Ω and an 80 [10]
µF capacitor in series. The load is connected to a 400 V, 50 Hz, 3-phase supply.
Calculate a. the phase current, b. the line current, c. the total power dissipated and d.
The kVA rating of the load. e. Draw the complete phasor diagram for the load

Q.8 Calculate the flux per pole required on full load for a 50kW, 400V, 8-pole, [10]
600 rpm, d.c shunt generator with 256 conductors arranged in a lap-connected
winding. The armature winding resistance is 0.1 Ω, the shunt field resistance
is 200Ω and there is a brush contact voltage drop of 1Vat each brush on full
load.
