Introducing Vocabulary:
Subject questions:
Games:
Play "Stick the flashcards onto the classroom objects"
With bluetack and flashcards, have students run around the room sticking
flashcards onto objects, you can even break them up into two teams, and
whichever team finishes first and gets the most right wins)
Put different objects around the classroom and have students pick up as
many as they can.
Reinforce counting and ask questions like How many ____ do you have? I
have…)
Split into two teams, puts the objects (or flashcards) on a table and have
students grab the items.
To make it more difficult, rather than saying the item, say the action. For
example, grab the item we use to CUT…students should then grab the scissors.
Print board game and have students play with each other, using there is there
are
Have students look at a picture and try to count as many objects there are, the
team that gets the number correct or the closest wins
Play go fish:
Print out flash cards (card-size). Mix cards, pass out deck of cards, each student
gets 7 cards. Students have to ask other students ¨Do you have ….¨ , if the
student thats being asked has said card, they have to give the student that asked
all the cards (for example, if student asks do you have a pencil. If the student has
a pencil, or 2 pencils, they have to respond, ¨Yes I do, I have (#) ____¨ and hand
over the cards to the student asking). If the student doesn´t have the card, they
tell the student that asked them, ¨Go fish¨, and the student that asked must grab
a card. Whoever has 4 of the same card wins.
*These are just a few that I enjoy playing with kids, you can choose whatever
you'd like, just make sure they are interactive games where kids get to play
and speak :)
