This manual provides instructions for using the Duplicates Cleaner app to scan for and delete duplicate files on an Android device, including images, videos, music and documents. The app requires storage permissions to scan files and can check internal and external storage for exact or similarly named duplicates that can then be selectively deleted. Settings allow configuring which locations to scan and whether to automatically select or prompt before deleting duplicate files.

Home Screen

 Scan Duplicate Images: This option scans all duplicate images in “Internal
Storage” by default. (you can choose which storage to scan from app
settings)
Note: supported image types during scan are -> jpg, png, gif, tiff, bmp
(contact us if you need support for other types)

 Scan Duplicate Audio: This option scans all duplicate audio/music files in
“Internal Storage” by default. (you can choose which storage to scan
from app settings)
Note: supported audio file types during scan are -> mp3, wav, wma,
m4a, flac, aac, amr (contact us if you need support for other types)

 Scan Duplicate Videos: This option scans all duplicate video files in
“Internal Storage” by default. (you can choose which storage to scan
from app settings)
Note: supported video file types during scan are -> mp4, avi, vob, mkv,
flv, 3gp, mov, wmv (contact us if you need support for other types)

 Scan Duplicate Docs: This option scans all duplicate documents in


“Internal Storage” by default. (you can choose which storage to scan
from app settings).
Note: supported document file types during scan are -> pdf, doc, docx,
rtf, xls, xlsx, ppt, pptx, mobi, epub, txt, rar, zip (contact us if you need
support for other types)

Permissions
In order to function properly our app requires certain permissions, they are
listed below along with their usage in detail

 Storage permission: This permission is required to read files on your


device & detect duplicates, later selected duplicates can be deleted by
our app, you need to click “Allow” when prompted as shown below
 Network/view wi-fi permission: This permission is required to detect
whether you are using “Updated version” (or) still stuck on out dated
version, when new version is detected you are prompted to update, this
helps users who doesn’t have “auto update apps” enabled
Note: we strongly recommend you to use latest version when ever
prompted to get latest patches & features.

Settings Screen
Several settings are provided to configure app in the way you want

 Auto Select Duplicates: When this option is enabled, duplicates are auto
checked/ticked.
 Prompt Before File Deletion: When this option is enabled you are
warned prior to file deletion as shown below (we highly recommend to
enable this to prevent accidental file deletion)
 Scan Location Settings: You can scan any of the below 4 locations on
device

Scan Internal Storage: This option allows to scan device internal storage,
in majority of devices it is inbuilt storage which manufacturer provides
such as 16GB, 64GB etc…
Note: in some devices it is allowed to convert portable SD card to
internal storage through formatting, in such case only one storage is
shown in device which is a combination of internal + External/Portable
SD card storage, scanning internal storage in such special case scans
entire device.

Scan SD Card: This option allows to scan portable SD card present in


device memory card slot, it can be found using any file explorer as
shown below

Note: When SD card scan is selected you are prompted to choose root
path of SD card to give app exclusive read/write permissions (starting
from android version > 4.4 kitkat apps require special permission from
users to access files on portable storage such as SD card, USB drives
etc….), select as shown below
If you are unable to see these & experience screen like below don’t
worry, Click on the 3 dots menu & select Show SD Card & then select it.
Scan Custom Folder: This option allows to scan any individual folder on
device, when prompted choose any folder/directory to scan it as shown
below

If unable to see any of these just click on 3 dot menu to unhide contents.

Scan Parallel Storage: This option allows to scan inbuilt parallel storage
provided in certain devices by manufactures.
Note: Selecting this option scans both internal storage & parallel apps
storage due to high probability of duplicates present in both locations
combined.

 Scan Type Settings: You can scan duplicates using 2 methods, each
option provides different functionality

Scan For Same Content: This option allows to scan duplicates by


comparing their content 100% , this is the default & recommended
option.

Scan For Same Name: This option allows to scan duplicates by comparing
their name/extension (case-insensitive).

 Add Custom Extensions: You can add custom file extensions such as
DWP, FLM etc…, simply type the extension seperated with comma as
shown below & click “Ok”.
later from home screen these files can be scanned using “Scan Custom
Files” option.

Results Screen
Once scan is completed you are presented with results as shown below
Only checked/ticked files are deleted, you can check (or) uncheck any file you
want, to view file in full screen just click on image shown in round thumbnail

Note: To view any file in full screen irrespective of image, audio, video, doc just
click on round thumbnail.
