2.2 ScoreCard
ScoreCard visualizes key performance metrics that summarize the quality of service that your network delivered during the last
30 days. Measurements for service quality are based on bandwidth, latency, and packet loss. This dossier lets you view service
quality by score category, service plan, and location, giving you an bird's-eye view of network performance by key customer
segmentation categories.
2.2.1 Overview
The overview page (the default view) is a simple measurement of your network's service delivery. Your network's performance
is measured across seven distinct categories that let you quickly determine optimal network services and the services that need
improvement. Category scores are measured at the subscriber level. Then, the mean of all subscriber measurements is aggregated
to calculate the overall performance score of the network.
Your network score is an aggregation of individual scores for these categories, which are displayed as icons on the x-axis of the
score chart:
Web Browsing
Streaming Media
Social Media
Gaming
Content Downstream
Content Upstream
VoIP
Select a category to view a breakdown of the metrics that determine the category score and that indicate why the network received
a certain score:
For a summary of network performance, view the panel at the bottom of this page for these key performance indicators:
• Throughput—A burst transmission metric, where the throughput resolution is 256 milliseconds.
• Latency—A round-trip time measurement, based on the TCP handshake and the TCP timestamp, if available.
• Packet loss—The average number of retransmissions per packet.
Note:
Consider these factors when interpreting the ScoreCard:
• A network can have a lower or higher score than any of its individual metrics.
• Each subscriber record receives an overall score based on all measurements, where each measurement is weighted
equally.
• Very large or very small outliers can influence the mean.
Note:
Performance and Operational Monitoring may open in a separate browser tab or window.
When launched, the Performance and Operational Monitoring screen similar to the image below opens.
The panel includes a search bar that utilizes predictive text to find a service in the database, a drop-down menu that lets you
view different networks, and a tool to share the dashboard via copy/paste.
• Service tiles indicate respective network health through green, yellow and red color indicators:
The tile color is based on the change in state within the last hour, and is triggered by the value on the right side of the spark line.
Each service tile has a service identifier plus five variable fields:
By clicking on any selected service on the Service Health Overview dashboard, the user will launch the relevant Location
Performance Dashboard.
The map view displays the following features for all the service locations:
• The color-coded circles on the map indicate the dashboard scores.
• The height of each circle is based on subscriber count.
• The search bar utilizes predictive text to find a location in the database.
• When a user hovers the cursor over a circle, a tool tip appears with Location name, Score, and Subscriber count.
• Locations on the map are interactive. Clicking on a particular location updates the KPI graphs below the map.
• The filters at the top of the page include Service filter, time filter, plan filter. Users may select a different service; a different
time range; and be able to filter by service plans.
• Network type can be selected.
• The graphs display hourly trends (if a day is selected) of:
• Score,
• RTT
• Throughput & Packet loss
• The daily trend (if the month is selected) for the location selected in map.
• Both int/ext or in/out graph lines for the KPI's. Hover over mouse to see metrics.
Time Filter Requirements
• When a user first drills down to this dashboard, the map reflects the last 5 minutes of data for the service and the graphs
below the map show the metrics for the past hour (12 intervals of 5 minutes each). This allows the user to see which metrics
made the service change state (i.e. turned red).
• Using the date filter at the top of the dashboard, the user can pick any day from the last 31 days and review the metrics for
the entire day.
• The map view and the KPI graphs reflect the selected day.
• The graphs are broken down by 24 hourly intervals.
• The user has the option to look at the data across the past month (31 days back from current day).
• The map and KPI's show the data for the past 31 days, and the graphs are broken down into 31 daily intervals.
• The max data retention in the database is 31 days.
When launched, the Performance Analysis “Network Overview” page similar to the image below opens.
Click on Network Overview - Network Health - Network Trends to toggle between screens:
Note:
Additional Traffic Profile panels can be added by clicking on the + icon located on the right edge of the main screen.
Additionally, each Traffic profile panel can be closed by clicking the x on the upper right of each panel.

Congestion management achieves cost-savings by pulling more utility from the existing network, while preserving service quality.
These dual objectives are often contradictory, and a careful balance must be struck. A complete congestion management solution
must have mechanism to recognize congestion and a mechanism to trigger and manage that congestion most suitably.

screens data in your data source to determine what data should be included in or
excluded from the calculations of the report results.
Classification: Application Object
Prompt A question that the system presents to a user who has run a report. How the user
answers the question determines what data is displayed on the report.
Classification: Application Object

indicator. The Metric Editor lets you create a mathematical expression with one or
more functions applied to facts, attributes, constants, and/or other metrics (for example,
Tx Bytes, Bps In, Volume In).
Classification: Application Object

7. Drag any object into the filter panel to filter based on that object.
In this example Date was chosen and filtered based on the most recent day's data.
8. Click on the PROPERTIES tab to configure the visualization. Several options are available. Data Exploration was chosen,
and Select Color Ranges... was clicked to change the color to yellow.
9. Insert a second visualization panel using the icons across the top bar and choose a new attribute and metric to visualize.

• Long Description - The description associated with the field in Insights Data Storage, this should fully describe the
attribute.
• Conformed Attribute - A true/false field that denotes whether this attribute is conformed with attributes of the same name
from other schema's. If it is conformed, it also indicates across which schema's the attributes are conformed.
• Facts: Database fields which contain records of measurements taken. Examples of facts are 'Volume In' or 'Packets Out'.
• Display Name - The business name of the object.
• Database Field - The source field from the database from which this fact is derived.
• Long Description - The description associated with the field in Insights Data Storage, this should fully describe the fact.
• Conformed Fact - A true/false field that denotes whether this fact is conformed with facts of the same name from other
schema's. If it is conformed, it also indicates across which schema's the facts are conformed.
• Metrics: Objects built upon facts that provide rules for how facts are aggregated when grouped or sliced by attributes.
Examples of possible metrics are 'Sum of Volume In' or 'Maximum Packets Out'.
• Display Name - The business name of the object, this name appears on all reports, cubes and dossiers.
• Fact(s) - The source facts from which this metric is calculated.
• Database Formula - The formula applied to the facts during extraction from the database.
• Dynamic Aggregation Formula - In some cases, the formula applied to extract the metric from the database is different
than the one applied during dynamic aggregation (slice and dice within a dossier). If the formula is different from the
database formula it is listed here.
• Short Description - A short description of the object, suitable for display in the hover-over tool tip.
• Long Description - The long descriptions of the metric should fully describe the calculations involved, as well as any
dimensionality constraints, conditions or transformations.
• Smart Metric - Some metric formulas involve ratios or other calculations that are non-aggregatable (i.e. calculations like
packet loss, or throughput, which involve division operations). Smart metrics store the components of the calculations,
and apply the formula at display time to ensure the value is displayed is always correct.
• Conformed Metric - A true/false field that denotes whether this metric is conformed with metrics of the same name from
other schema's. If it is conformed, it also indicates across which schema's the metrics are conformed.
