A Web Page or Webpage


 is a document, commonly written in HTML (hypertext markup language) viewed
in an Internet browser.
 It information to viewers, including pictures or videos to help illustrate important
topics
How to open a web page
 Viewing a web page requires a browser like Internet
Explorer, Edge, Safari, Firefox, or Chrome. For example, you are reading this
web page using a browser. Once in a browser, you can open a web page by
entering the URL in the address bar.
What are the file formats of a web page?
 The most common file format and file extension of a web page is .html, as
mentioned above. Most web pages are eventually displayed as an HTML file. In
the case of this static web page, the file extension is ".htm," which is the same as
a ".html" page.
What are the elements of a web page?
1. The website, blog name, logo, or company name is often in the top-left corner of
each web page.
2. The search allows visitors to search a website for related information and should
be available on every page.
3. The navigation bar, or menu for a web page, is often found on the top or left side
of each web page.
4. Advertisement banners can be shown in different places on a web page and help
pay for the expenses of running a website and company.
5. Social share links allow visitors to share your site with other co-workers, friends,
and family on social networking sites.
6. The breadcrumbs help the user know where they are on the website.
7. The heading should be included on the top of every web page and created using
the <h1> HTML tag
8. The opening paragraph is one of the most important paragraphs on the web
page and should help draw the visitor into reading the web page.
9. Each web page should be broken up into other headings that allow the visitor to
easily skim and find what is most interesting on the page.
10. Having a method of allowing a visitor to provide feedback is also a requirement
for most web pages.
11. Additional information and tools (e.g., print the page), can also be helpful for
users on most web pages.
12. The footer should include any other important company or website information to
be included on all web pages to help the visitor continue using the site.
13. The Copyright and any legal or privacy notice should also be on all web pages.
14. Finally, a "back to the top" button or link at the bottom of the page helps the
visitor return to the menu links or other tools.

Visual Design for Web
 When considering design for a web page, one should pay particular attention to
their audience. Putting a page on the internet opens up the audience far beyond
who is the intended audience. The designer also has to always keep in mind the
aim of the organization behind the website, its values, and its goals, as the web
page will be used to communicate this to the users, and members of the page’s
organization may also be users of the page.
Audience and Purpose
- Gathering information on the specific group you are writing for is helpful
when deciding on content and how to structure the information in your
document.
Page Content
- Content display make it easy for the reader to find answers.
- Break content up into topics and sub topics. Content should be displayed
in time, sequence, or task format, which is typically used for information
about a consumer product.
Simplicity, Clarity, and Consistency
- Elements on the screen must be legible, and often a pair of critical eyes is
needed to judge legibility of text and images (Williams, 2000)

- PowerPoint is a popular presentation software developed by Microsoft. It
is part of the Microsoft Office suite and is used to create slideshows and
presentations.
- PowerPoint allows users to create visually appealing and organized
presentations by incorporating text, images, videos, and other multimedia
elements.
- Users can add various slide transitions and animations to make their
presentations more engaging.
- It’s widely used in business, education, and other settings for conveying
information and ideas in a structured manner.
What can you do with PowerPoint?
- PowerPoint gives you the ability to share your presentation with others in
real time on the web. You would supply the user with a link to the
presentation.
 Custom animation
 Add photos, videos and sound effects
 Save as a webpage
 Print presentations as handouts
 Embed YouTube videos
Why PowerPoint is connected to technical writing?
- PowerPoint is often connected to technical writing because it is a widely used
tool for creating visual presentations, which are frequently used to complement
technical documents.
- Technical writers often use PowerPoint to create slides that accompany their
written documentation, as it allows them to present complex information in a more
visually appealing and understandable way.
- These presentations can be used for training, project updates, and technical
briefings, making it a valuable tool for conveying technical information to a non-technical
audience.

Do's and Don't on using Powerpoint

Do:
• Keep slides simple and uncluttered.
• Use bullet points for concise information.
• Use visuals like images and graphs to enhance understanding.
• Maintain a consistent font and color scheme.
• Practice your presentation to ensure smooth delivery.

Don't:
• Overcrowd slides with excessive text.
Read directly from the slides; speak to your audience.
• Use too many animations or transitions.
• Choose distracting or hard-to-read fonts.
• Neglect to check and adjust the presentation setup before starting.
