Coding Decoding Quiz 70

Directions: In each of the following questions given below, a word is given followed by four
combinations of symbols and digits labeled A, B, C and D. You have to find out which of the
following four combinations correctly represents the word based on the alphabet codes and
the conditions given below. If none of the combinations matches, choose ‘None of these’ as
your answer.

Letter Q U J H O B A T R E S L M I P F
Code 5 @ & 7 $ 6 * 9 3 # 2 4 / 8 ! %

Condition 1:
If first element is a vowel and last element is a consonant then the code of first and last letter
will be interchanged.

Condition 2:
If first element is a consonant and last element is a vowel then the code of third and fifth letter
will be interchanged.

Condition 3:
If an element is appearing twice in the word then it will be coded as +.

Note: If a code follows more than one conditions, then all the conditions should be applied
in order.

Explanations :

1. We have,

The given Combination = RBUEBL

In the given combination, first element is a consonant and last element is also a consonant, and ‘B’ is
appearing twice in the word.

Thus, only condition 3 can be applied.

Letter Q U J H O B A T R E S L M I P F
Code 5 @ & 7 $ 6 * 9 3 # 2 4 / 8 ! %

Using the above we can write the code of ‘RBUEBL’ as ‘36@#64’.

After applying condition 3 the code becomes ‘3+@#+4’.

Hence, the correct answer is option A.

2. We have,

The given Combination = HOJOQA

In the given combination, first element is a consonant and last element is a vowel, and ‘O’ is appearing
twice in the word.

Thus, both conditions 2 and 3 will be applied.

Letter Q U J H O B A T R E S L M I P F
Code 5 @ & 7 $ 6 * 9 3 # 2 4 / 8 ! %

Applying condition 2, we can write the code of ‘HOJOQA’ as ‘7$5$&*’.

After applying condition 3 the code becomes ‘7+5+&*'.

Hence, the correct answer is option E.

3. We have,

The given Combination = UTFESP

In the given combination, first element is a vowel and last element is a consonant, and no letter is
appearing twice in the word.

Thus, only condition 1 can be applied.

Letter Q U J H O B A T R E S L M I P F
Code 5 @ & 7 $ 6 * 9 3 # 2 4 / 8 ! %

Using the above we can write the code of ‘UTFESP’ as ‘@9%#2!’.

After applying condition 1 the code becomes ‘!9%#2@’.

Hence, the correct answer is option B.

4. We have,

The given Combination = EQRLIQ

In the given combination, first element is a vowel and last element is a consonant, and ‘Q’ is appearing
twice in the word.

Thus, both conditions 1 and 3 can be applied.

Letter Q U J H O B A T R E S L M I P F
Code 5 @ & 7 $ 6 * 9 3 # 2 4 / 8 ! %

Using the above we can write the code of ‘EQRLIQ’ as ‘#53485’.

After applying condition 1 the code becomes ‘55348#’.

Now, after applying condition 3 the code becomes ‘++348#’.

Hence, the correct answer is option C.

5. We have,

The given combination = IMHUPA

In the given combination, first element is a vowel and last element is also a vowel, and no letter is
appearing twice in the word.

Thus, direct coding will be applied.

Letter Q U J H O B A T R E S L M I P F
Code 5 @ & 7 $ 6 * 9 3 # 2 4 / 8 ! %

Using the above we can write the code of ‘IMHUPA’ as ‘8/7@!*’.

Hence, the correct answer is option E.
