Chlorine (Cl)

 Form in which absorbed: - Cl- (Chloride ions)


 Functions: - 1. Maintain Anion-Cation Balance
2. Maintain Solute Concentration
3. Water Splitting Reaction in Photosynthesis leads to release of Oxygen.

2. Molybdenum (Mo)

 Form in which absorbed :- MoO22+ (Molybdate ions)


 Functions:- Component of several enzyme involved in Nitrogen Metabolism
1. Nitrogenase
2. Nitrate Reductase

3. Nickel (Ni)

 Form in which absorbed :- Ni2+ (Nickel ions)


 Functions: - Imp constitute for enzyme Urease.

4. Boron (B)

 Form in which absorbed :- BO33- , B4O72- (Borate ions)


 Functions: - 1. Uptake & Utilisation of Ca2+.
2. Membrane Functioning
3. Pollen Germination
4. Cell Elongation
5. Carbohydrate Translocation (Long Distance Transport)
6. Cell Differentiation

5. Manganese (Mn)

 Form in which absorbed :- Mn2+ (Manganous ions)


 Functions: -1. Splitting of water & release of Oxygen.
2. Activates Enzymes involved in Photosynthesis, Respiration & Nitrogen Metabolism
6. Zinc (Zn)

 Form in which absorbed :- Zn2+ (Zinc ions)


 Functions: - 1. Activate enzyme like Carboxylase Plant Hormone
2. Required in Auxin Synthesis Alcohol Dehydrogenase
3. Activate dehydrogenase like
Carbonic Dehydrogenase
7. Copper (Cu)

 Form in which absorbed :- Cu2+(Cupric ions)


 Functions:-1. Involved in overall Metabolism in Plants Reduction-Oxidation Recn
+ 2+
2. Involved in Redox Reaction in the form Cu to Cu
3. Present in Plastocyanin – (in photosynthetic electron transport)

8. Iron (Fe)
 Form in which absorbed :- (Fe3+) Ferric ions
 Functions: - 1. Imp constituent of Ferredoxin & Cytochromes
2. Associated with Redox Reaction, reversibly oxidise in the form Fe2+ to Fe3+
3. Activates Catalase Enzyme
4. Essential for formation of Chlorophyll

Note: - Splitting of water – mainly (Cl, Mn) & commonly (Ca)
