In this current era of digitization or the digital revolution, the significance of Computer
Science Education is massive. Every aspect of human progress is related to computer
aided-design, information technology, digital resources, so on and forth. Every form of
business, either newly emerging or already established ones, are constantly on the
look-out for IT professionals who can provide an edge in decision-making processes,
during a time of rampantly stiff competition. Data Analytics and Information Sharing
are of utmost priority. With such keen aspects in mind, I intend to devote myself in the
field of Computer Science Education and contribute to the discipline/field with
innovative solutions. I also intend to stress upon specific areas, like Cyber Security, AI
and Data Analytics.
Firstly, I completed my graduation in CSE (Computer Science and Engineering), after
which I proceeded to learn more, with additional diploma courses and projects. I
participated in a two-day workshop on Android Application and received a formal
certification on Interactive Programming in Python from Coursera. Other certifications I
received from Coursera are in Network security and Database Vulnerabilities, Deep
learning AI TensorFlow Developer. I have also been a part of projects where I was able
to apply and test my knowledge-base inherited from academic pursuits within practical
environments. The projects will be discussed underneath. In summary, my experiences
have well-equipped me to pursue higher education in Computer Science Education,
and with the growing expansion/recognition in the field, it is only evident that I
proceed to establish a productive career in the aforementioned discipline.
The USA is the country where it all began, where the inception of a grand revolution
took place. The vastness of opportunities in Computer Science became widely
acknowledged, with the emergence of tech giants, such as Apple, Microsoft, Google and
more. Social Media Networks became a global sensation too, a massive phenomenon
that brought distances closer and innovated the realm of convenience for users world-
wide. The USA, undoubtedly, holds the torch of progress in Computer Science
Education and development, which is why I prefer the country as the best place to
indulge in higher studies regarding the same. Furthermore, my exposure towards such
international standards of education will hone my capabilities to its utmost potential.
This may not necessarily take place if I choose to study back here (in my home
country).
I always wanted to avail the privilege of pursuing higher studies in countries or
universities with globally recognized and acknowledged educational standards. This
particular university has sufficed my curiosity, whilst I researched about educational
facilities in different parts of the world. Furthermore, I got to know from the alumni
itself, through email contacts, about certain educational facilities or provisions that are
unique to the discipline, ones that aren’t provided commonly everywhere. So, with the
allowance of exclusive facilities and global recognition, I would feel infinitely honored to
be a part of the department’s endeavors.
During my undergraduate studies, I did a project on Deep Learning-based Iris
Segmentation through the UNet Interactive Model. The objective was to design reliable
approaches for automated biometric identification, and important for security and
authentication systems. So, the thesis work explores a possible implementation of Iris
segmentation using an interactive variant of UNet. I did another project on Face Mask
Detection using Python, Opencv, TensorFlow and Keras. The test of my practical
programming knowledge turned out to be quite fruitful. The project’s primary objective
was to implement a particular system at the entrance-gates of colleges, airports,
hospitals, and offices, where the probabilities of COVID-19 outbreaks through
contagion were relatively higher. A data set was used to build the face mask detector
using python, opencv, TensorFlow and Keras. The indulgence in such projects, along
with my academics and diploma courses has truly provided me with an efficient
knowledge-base and skill-set that would inevitably lead me ahead in the discipline of
Computer Science.
Apart from the projects that I was part of I recently got placed in companies like
WIPRO, TCS and DXC, all of which were focused on hiring IT professionals who could
meet the respective company’s requirements. I have the experience of formulating
predictive models using data-sets, for which the company’s preference upon me
seemed somewhat higher. I have some athletic experience as a cricket player and I
share a keen interest in gaming too. I have worked with teams to organize
festivals/events at college, where collective effort and on-field duties granted me the
profound experience of indulging in active work environments.
I have inherited community-based experience during my time working alongside
groups/teams in both cricket and college events. The essence of teamwork and
collective effort were well-taught. I also came to the conclusion that within professional
work environments, even if things are rampantly fast-paced, a collective indulgence
would suffice the limitation of time. In short, either leadership or community-building,
to form an organization requires stiff management and an open-minded sense of self,
all of which I have inherited from specified instances/experiences.
I value the essence of teamwork, over individual practice. Of course, individual
exploration is highly necessary and must be undertaken. When such solo efforts get
united, a variety of interpretations would arise, hence leading to a conclusion much
more profound than what could hitherto be realized alone. In this sense, my value-base
holds the power of knowledge as supreme in unison, rather than secluded in secrecy.
With such a presence of mind, I intend to proceed ahead in my academic journey with
an open-mind, accept criticisms, contribute my learning and be transparent about
anything/everything that is to be learned or taught, in unison with others.
Data Analytics, Information Sharing and Cyber Security have become high-end
priorities in the field of Computer Science, due to the breach or invasion of privacy.
With such regards, I wish to establish a career in Computer Science Education and
address such issues to make the digital space a safer one for users. We live in a time
where innovation and progress stands firmly upon the platform of digitization. So, if
such a world is made unsafe, it would hinder the pace of progress, wherein individuals
like me must stand up and tackle prevalent issues that are at hand.
