Computer Management
The tool is used to manage different elements of a system. These include system tools, storage
and services.
The system tools container includes event viewer, shared folders, Performance logs and device
manager and the Storage container has tools to configure secondary storage devices, it contains
disk defragmenter and disk management tools. The services container includes tools to start or
stop different services related to the system.

The most commonly used tools are:

Event viewer, Shared folders, disk defragmenter, disk management, and services.

Event viewer :- The event viewer records events related to actions in the system, It includes 3
logs in a client system whereas 6 logs in a domain controller.
The logs in a client system are Application, System, and Security.
Where as in a DC directory service, DNS Server, and File Replication service are included.
The system log contains events related to the system events such as device failure, driver failure,
service failure or status etc.
The Application log records events related to different services running in the system. for
example oracle server service, Norton security service etc.
The Security log records security events, which includes object access, log on events etc.
The directory service records events related to the active directory, for example deleting or
modifying a user account, group or OU (organizational unit) etc are recorded.
The DNS server log records events related to the DNS service.
And The File Replication service records events related to Replication process, and status.

Shared folders:-
The shared folders container contains three sub items;
a) Shares
b) Sessions

c) Open files

The shares folder contains all the shared objects in the local system. where as the sessions folder
displays the user and the computer currently using the local resources. And the open files
container displays folders currently in use.

Services:-
The services container lists different services running in the system. To Start or stop a service
double click on it and press either the start or stop button.
For example to send messages from one computer to the other the messenger service on both the
systems should be running.
To start the messenger service double click on the messenger service choose manual if it is
disabled and press apply and then start to start the service.
