    A vaginal swab was taken from a 71-year-old female patient referred by Dr. Diagnostic Lab. Gram stain of the swab showed occasional pus cells, epithelial cells, and Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. Culture found heavy growth of Escherichia coli. Antibiotic sensitivity testing showed the E. coli isolate was susceptible to ampicillin, imipenem, meropenem, amoxicillin-clavulanic acid, and other antibiotics.
