Resultant1

The document provides examples of resolving coplanar force systems into their components and determining the resultant force. It includes problems resolving forces into x-y and various angled components, as well as determining minimum forces, resultants of multi-force systems, and replacing systems with equivalent single forces or force-couple systems. The document contains over 20 examples of calculating and analyzing forces acting on objects like blocks, boats, boards, bars, and plates.

in fig. The tension in one rope is P = 2.6kN. If the
resultant of two forces applied at O is directed
along the x – axis of the car. Find the tension in

means of ropes. The ropes make an angle of 30° and
40° respectively with the sides of the river as shown
in the fig. (i) Determine the forces P and Q. (ii) If θ1

rope Q is minimum. What is the value of minimum
force Q?

7. Determine the resultant of the given force system.

being pulled by four players as shown in the fig. The
players are sitting exactly at the center of the four
sides. Determine the resultant of forces in
magnitude and direction.

9. For the system shown, determine (i) the required value

of α if resultant of three forces is to be vertical and (ii)
the corresponding magnitude of resultant.
