6.0 DESCRIPTION
This document covers mainly foundation design & Superstructure for Gate Building.
Foundation Design :
Mat 3D software is used for Design of foundation, in accordance with ACI 318M. Kindly refer Appendix-
B for Detailed foundation calculation.
RC Structure Design:
Analysis & Design of Superstructure mainly Concrete Column & Beams is performed for the various
loads and combinations as per Section 7 in Staad pro V8i software applying appropriate design
parameters mentioned in section 4.
Steel Structure Design:
Analysis & Design of Structural Steel Roof is performed for the various loads and combinations as per
Section 7 in Staad pro V8i software applying appropriate design parameters mentioned in section 4.

A Dead loads are defined as the self-weight of all structural members forming part of the building or
structure. Dead Load (DL) of members (in Model) taken by STAAD PRO V8i based on member size and unit
weight of 78.5 kN/m3 for steel 24 kN/m3 for Concrete , with command SELFWEIGHT.
Weight of RC Floor slab is defined in STAAD PRO V8i with Floor load command. Simillarly Weight of wall,
Parapet, Roof sheet and side sheeting is defined as member load in STAAD PRO V8i. For Detailed description
of Dead Load, Refer Staad Input file in Appendix-B.
Total wind force on Enclosed and Partially Enclosed Rigid Building p = q G Cp - qi (GCpi) (N/m2)
Where, qz = 0.613 x Kz x Kzt x Kd x Ke x V2 in (N/m2) (As per eqn 27.3-1 of ASCE 7-10)
where:
G Gust effect factor = 0.85 (As per clause 6.5.8 of ASCE 7-02)
