(1) The alkyl halide that can undergo both SN1 and SN2 reactions is (CH3)3C-X, as the tertiary alkyl halide will prefer SN1. (2) Alkyl halides are very reactive towards nucleophiles because they have an electrophilic carbon and a good leaving group. (3) In primary alkyl halides, the carbon attached to the halogen is bonded to one other carbon atom.
