Hybrid Systems:
Hybrid System is an intelligent system which is a combination of Fuzzy Logic,
Neural Networks & Genetic Algorithm. These systems are capable of reasoning and
learning in an uncertain environment and can provide human-like expertise like
domain knowledge, adaptation in noisy environment etc.

Types of Hybrid Systems:

Neuro Fuzzy Hybrid Systems

Fuzzy Genetic Hybrid Systems

Neuro Genetic Hybrid Systems

1. Neuro Fuzzy Hybrid Systems:

Neuro fuzzy system is based on fuzzy system which is based on the working of
neuro network theory. It has different layers structure. The input variables, the fuzzy
rules and the output variables are fuzzy sets. Fuzzy sets which provide processing
and training the model.

Neuro Fuzzy Hybrid Systems

Advantages of Neuro Fuzzy Hybrid Systems:

Handle numeric, linguistic, logic, information.

Manage imprecise, partial, vague or imperfect information.

Resolve conflicts by collaboration and aggregation.

Traffic control systems

2. Fuzzy Genetic Hybrid Systems:

A Fuzzy Genetic Hybrid system use fuzzy logic based techniques and modelling
genetic algorithms for improving. Genetic algorithm perform tasks with generation of
fuzzy rule base, generation of membership function etc.

Fuzzy Genetic Hybrid Systems

Advantages of Fuzzy Genetic Hybrid Systems:

3. Neuro Genetic Hybrid Systems:

A Neuro Genetic Hybrid System is a system that combines neural networks and
genetic algorithm. Genetic algorithms can be used to improve the performance of
neural networks to decide the common weights of the inputs. These algorithms can
be used for topology selection and training network.

Neuro Genetic Hybrid Systems

Advantages of Neuro Genetic Hybrid Systems:

GA is used for topology optimization to select number of hidden layers, nodes and
interconnection patten for ANN.

ANN is formulated as a weight optimization problem, usually using the inverse

mean squared error as a fitness measure.

GA control parameters such as learning rate, momentum rate, tolerance level etc.

Mimic human decision-making process.

Sequential Hybrid Systems:

This is like combining different soft computing methods in a step-by-step

manner. For instance, you might use fuzzy logic to handle uncertainty first, and
then pass the results to a neural network for further learning. It's a sequential
flow of soft computing techniques to solve a complex problem.

Applications of Sequential Hybrid Systems:

Sequential hybrid systems can be used to improve the accuracy of pattern

recognition and classification tasks by combining the strengths of different soft
computing techniques.

Sequential hybrid systems can be used to optimize complex systems and control
systems that are subject to uncertainty or nonlinearity.

Sequential hybrid systems can be used to analyze large amounts of data and
make predictions about future events.

Embedded Hybrid Systems:

In soft computing, embedded systems involve seamlessly integrating different

approaches. Picture using fuzzy logic and genetic algorithms together to
optimize a solution. They work hand in hand, and each method contributes its
unique strengths, creating a holistic and integrated soft computing solution.

Auxiliary Hybrid Systems:

In soft computing, auxiliary systems support each other to enhance overall

performance. For instance, you might employ genetic algorithms to optimize the
parameters of a neural network. The genetic algorithm acts as an assistant,
improving the efficiency of the neural network, and together they tackle the
problem more effectively.
